Hip Hop Album Sales: Pusha T’s “DAYTONA” & A$AP Rocky’s “Testing” Hit Billboard 200 Top 5

    Although pop singer Shawn Mendes nabbed the Billboard 200 crown for the week ending May 31, Hip Hop was still properly represented in the Top 10.

    Pusha T’s DAYTONA and A$AP Rocky’s Testing both made their debuts in the Top 5, while Juice WRLD’s Goodbye & Good Riddance made an 84 percent jump to land in the Top 10.

    Meanwhile, Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys stayed at #2, Cardi B’s Invasion Of Privacy held steady at #5 and Lil Baby’s Harder Than Ever fell 36 percent to settle at #7.

    Mega producer Zaytoven also made his debut with Trap Holizay, which hit the chart at #78.

    Pusha T’s DAYTONA is officially his highest charting album to date. With 76,500 total album equivalent units (39,208 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 53,818,877), the G.O.O.D. Music president’s third solo album slid into the #3 slot, right behind Post Malone.

    His solo debut, My Name Is My Name, debuted with around 74,000 in first-week sales, peaking at #4 and spending 11 weeks on the Billboard 200. His sophomore album, 2015’s King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, debuted at #20 upon its release and spent five weeks on the chart.

    A$AP Rocky unleashed Testing on Friday (May 25), rivaling Pusha’s DAYTONA. The numbers for both artists were fairly close but the A$AP Mob star sold just a little less and wound up at #4.

    With 75,003 total album equivalent units (13,359 in pure album sales and a streaming count of  89,304,158), Testing marks the first time a solo album of his didn’t debut at #1. Both 2013’s Long. Live. A$AP. and 2015’s At. Long. Last. A$AP both made their debuts at #1.

    Say Hello To Juice WRLD

    Seemingly out of nowhere, Illinois rapper Juice WRLD has started making a name for himself. The Interscope Records signee released his Goodbye & Good Riddance project on May 23, which debuted at #15, but this week, it made an 84 percent jump to land in the Top 10.

    With 43,323 total album equivalent units (1,381 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 60,782,299), the 19-year-old ended up at #7.

    1. Pusha t did solid numbers. He isnt about sales. Dude is about quality music. Oh yeah, he also bodied the biggest rapper in the game:0). Drake ran like rich the kid did when he saw lil uzi vert:*)

      1. It’s been like this for years in Hip Hop. Overrated white artist can easily outsell their black counterparts.
