GloRilla has found herself defending a new job position she opened up after critics slammed her for what they deemed a low salary.
On Wednesday (December 14), the Memphis rap star took to her Instagram Live to address all the commotion over the $550-a-week pay rate for the new personal assistant position on her team. Big Glo posted the job listing earlier this week with responsibilities that include managing the rapper’s calendar, organizing meals, booking travel and more.
Big Glo wasted no time clearing the air on her live stream as she explained what the expectations of the job were and made note that certain expenses are covered along with the salary.
“Let me tell you muthafuckers something, talking about $550 is too little. Bitch, it really need to be $500 — nah, I’m just playing,” Glo said. “First of all, your flights get paid for, your flights and your travel. If you want a higher pay, then pay for your own flights and your own travel and see how much them 500-dollar-ass flight tickets be … I take flights every day.”
GloRilla continued to say those who think she’s going to give someone over $1,200 a week and pay for their flights on top of paying for her own travel are outrageous.
She continued to speak on the job responsibilities by saying: “Half the shit on that list you don’t gotta do for real. It’s just, if it comes down to it you might have to do it. But it’s literally the easiest shit in the world. You really don’t gotta do shit but be with me every day.”
Comedian Lil Duval chimed in on the topic and couldn’t believe people were getting upset over the pay rate. According to Duval, people are asking for top dollar for a job that’s basically an entry-level position.
“Folks really saying $550 a week to be glorilla assistant ain’t enough. Y’all poasses want ceo salary for an entry level position,” he tweeted. “Majority of the people y’all look up to started as an assistant and didn’t make nothing.”
Duval continued: “If u can’t afford to work for free for some years then the entertainment business is not what u wanna be in go to school or learn or trade.”
With all the success and praise GloRilla has received lately, it makes sense that she now needs a personal assistant. Last month, she received her first Grammy nomination in the Best Rap Performance category for her hit single “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).”
If that weren’t big enough for the newcomer, she’s been nominated in three categories at the 2022 HipHopDX Awards, including Best New Rapper, Best Hip Hop Song and Best Hip Hop Collaboration.
GloRilla also unleashed a new visual to “No More Love,” the lead track to her debut EP titled Anyways, Life’s Great… The video was directed by frequent collaborator Diesel Films and finds Glo going back to her neighborhood as she raps about failed relationships.
Cheap bitch.
Bitch ain’t never have to pay $1600 rent on a one bedroom apartment before lol. This is what happens when you become a celeb. Out of touch something fierce. If its the easiest shit in the world why the fuck don’t you do it then?
Nobody is forcing anyone to take that job…
Exactly
Depends on how many hours a week at 40 hours a week that is $13.75 an hour which in some cities is less than minimum wage.
U know she’ll be working that bitch to death too 🤣
If the personal assistant is being paid for a 40 hour week at $500 a week, then she is making $12.50 an hour. By comparison Snoop’s personal blunt roller gets paiid $50,000 a year which breaks down to about $25 an hour. How the fuck Im gonna manage your daily schedule 7 days a week and you pay me a. 40 hour walmart salary ? And somebody else gets paid double just to roll a rappers blunts ? I dont care about free flights, thats not my personal vacation. GTFOH
Pretty out of touch with the cost of living….is her assistant going to be living with her rent free?
This job will depend on the person in general. Do they want to listen to people on the outside looking in. In which some of those talking 💩 has already applied for the job themselves. Do they want to take this job & possibly use it as a much BIGGER opportunity. Plus getting the chance to see the world at the same time. There are many people we know of today in the entertainment field that started out the same way & some even worked for free just to get their foot in the door. Some of y’all all up in that lady’s pocket counting her money like you know what she can & cannot afford. Comparing her to a hip hop legend whom out the gate broke a weeks sales for an album. A 30 year veteran whom has had his hand in everything from music, Tv, clothing, entrepreneurship, etc. Just in EVERYBODY’S pocket. I say this here. If you at home doing nothing, working a minimum wage job, selling dope, having to ask for change to get a cigar to smoke a blunt, etc then this is an opportunity for you despite what anybody say, think, or feel. An opportunity that could be takin advantage of if you play cards right. To each is their own. At the end of it all, it’s your choice not anybody else’s.
Somebody hungry enough, who’s already making $550 a week will take the job. It’s a great way to network if you’re about that.
