DJ Khaled Reportedly Suing Billboard Over Disqualified “Father Of Asahd” Merch Sales

DJ Khaled is reportedly planning a massive lawsuit against Billboard for allegedly failing to count over 100,000 of Father Of Asahd sales.

Page Six reports Khaled’s attorneys have issued a letter to Silvio Pietroluongo, Billboard’s Senior Vice President of charts and data development, threatening to sue.

Khaled is reportedly upset Billboard discounted downloads he sold as part of a “bundle deal” with an energy drink in an effort to boost sales. He claims they initially agreed to count them but then reneged.

A source close to Khaled said, “When Khaled’s team tried to appeal, Billboard refused to budge.” As a result, Tyler, The Creator’s IGOR debuted at No. 1, while Father Of Asahd took the No. 2 spot.

The source point out Tyler’s bundle deal figures were included in his total sales, making the situation even more “unjust.”

Last week, Khaled had a meeting with chairman and CEO of Epic Records Sylvia Rhone regarding the matter. The source explained, “Khaled was frustrated his label didn’t fight harder for his bundle sales to be included.”

A Billboard source said the 100,000 units were disqualified but admitted an undisclosed number of his sales weren’t counted due to “strange anomalies in the data.” Their decision was actually based on chart rules following talks with Khaled’s management, Sony Records and Nielsen.

In a recent article, Billboard announced was reviewing its bundle deal rules for 2020.

According to Hypebeast, Chief Operating Officer at Roc Nation Desiree Perez called bundles “confusing and demeaning to the art.”

She added, “We’re obviously not fans of bundling, nor should anyone who cares about artists making music. But our hands are being forced by Billboard’s desperate, last-ditch effort to keep streaming from eliminating what’s left of music downloads.”

Meanwhile, Tyler continues to subtly throw shots at Khaled as he celebrates the success of IGOR, his first No. 1 album.

    1. We need a HIP HOP BAN on this cornball!! Y’all allowed him to get clout and now big names are SCARED to turn him down for a song. Enough is enough. Mad shady and suspect how this man hides his wife in a closet while parading his son around obnoxiously all day too.

      1. Don’t know if this true or not, nice what he is doing for his son, but he need to switch it up, no difference in sound , artists or concept. Maybe he should stop whining and change up his style, maybe learn something from j Cole . Maybe Khaled arrogance is catching up with him. Yeah that whole wife thing was just plain wierd.

        1. Cannot take anything from the dude. He did his thing. But if he claims to be on the forefront he has got to continue to innovate. Progressive hiphop, or he is just going to become a dinosaur like Diddy (since he was channeling puff in thr first place.

    2. Who is drinking a DJ Khaled energy drink? I bet it makes you loud, annoying and fake humble. I’m cool… Cats are using the music to sell everything else but quality music.

    3. What a sore loser. Billboard should just blacklist him altogether. Hes not an artist or a musician.

    4. Sounds some like someone in his team dropped the ball. This is just a publicity stunt. His album flopped HARD so he needs a built in excuse….

      1. I forgot how this guy fake proposed to Nicki online and got rejected just to promote a flop single no one remembers

    5. Went to 7-11 to buy a energy drink and it had a Kahlid CD attached.. I put it back and bought coffee. Lol. No but honestly I am waiting on Asahds debut album , “Son of a Bitch” to drop. Lmfao

    6. The male Nicki Minaj – bitter, washed up and causes pain for everyone in close proximity whenever he opens his mouth and speaks. Take the L fat boy and think of some better ways you can exploit your infant son for capital gain

    7. He can suck a dick, and lick a dick, and eat a dick, and stick a dick in your mouth
I’m done, Khaled can fuck off, fuck-a-fuck-off!

    8. Yoo!! Who tf Khaled think he is!? Since he beginning his albums were whatever but sold for all the features.. nothing changed, just a shitload of features that everyone stopped giving af about.. BRO, bless up for getting #2!! I don’t know a single person bumping his album.. GTFOH Khaled

    9. Don’t worry, Khaled, I’m sure your goat fucker album did well where your type of shit is relevant. You know that part of the world where women can’t drive, women can’t show their faces, they get stoned to death for disobeying men, they throw gays off rooftops, ban dancing, have religious police telling people what to do…in other words nobody here in the States gives a fuck if you’re the father of Asadhahmufasa, whatever the fuck your kids name is.

    10. DJ Khaled looks like if Zangief from Street Fighter had a fat flabby love child with the Iron Sheik.

    11. 1) Who even knew he had an energy drink? I had to do a search and it must be reigonal because there is not a lot of info on it. So I can see Billboard’s argument if the numbers are inflated.

      2) In the streaming era he won’t make much of the “missing numbers”. This must be for bragging rights.

      3) While not a big fan of Tyler, Khaleds last album was just ok in comparison. Trash single that came out last yeah and no real stand out tracks on the rest of the album. This old formula of putting his albums together is just that, dated. Just a albums full of singles with no real direction.

    12. Tech has been on the cd with merch shit way before all these asshole artists starting throwing fits, N9ne counts cds as sales but makes more of merch on tour.

    13. So you still made your money and want to complain because some bundle wasn’t put on the same pedestal as just the CD stand alone. What kind of fuckery is that. Somebody just trying to get attention for the album it sounds to push more profits. Quit complaining. Album sales don’t mean your music is great to begin. It’s a matter of opinion at the end of the day.

    14. I get his argument after doing more research. They didn’t count his bundle sales with his energy drinks. Meanwhile, they counted Tyler’s bundle sales. As a result, he lost 100k in album sales which lost him the #1 spot. He thought they reached an agreement prior to the release that they would include his bundle sales but apparently backed out cause they disagreed with his method of selling. Apparently the website Shop was encouraging people to buy 12 packs of the energy drink which came with a download of the album with each drink to help drive up the numbers. Is it a shady practice? Yes!!! But this is the door that you open when you allow the bundling package to count towards sales. Billboard drew the line at a drink that cost like 2-3 bucks. I blame billboard 100% and hope they stop the whole practice of bundling. As petulant as Khaled and his team is, maybe this suit will put an end to this practice and allow per sales and streaming to determine rankings.

    15. This fat fuck has been working out for 5 years and he is still the same fat fuck he allways was. Get on the salads u fat fuck.
