Daz Dillinger Doesn’t Believe “Surviving Compton” That Suge Knight Punked Tupac

While many social media users gave Dr. Dre and Suge Knight major side-eye for their portrayals in Michel’le’s Lifetime biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le, former Death Row Records artist Daz Dillinger says he remembers things happening another way.

It’s not the movie’s depictions of the gruesome beatdowns the former First Lady of Ruthless Records received at the hands of both Dre and Suge that he contests, but more so of how the relationship between Suge and Tupac was characterized in the film.

“Did you see where Suge Knight was talking to Tupac like that in her movie?” Daz says in an Instagram clip. “I don’t recall no shit like that. Tupac wasn’t going for no shit like that. I wouldn’t go for no shit like that or we’d have a lot of fights. I ain’t heard of no shit like that. Bitch lie.”

Dr. Dre has threatened to sue Sony Pictures over the film, which displays the alleged physical abuse and humiliation that Michel’le was subjected to during the course of their relationship. The “Something In My Heart” singer defended her right to share her story while signed on Ruthless Records, which was conveniently left out of Straight Outta Compton, during an interview with TMZ.

“My only concern is that I’m not understanding — What is he saying? Is he saying that he just didn’t abuse me at all? Cause I’m insulted if that’s what he’s saying…I allowed him to portray his self in his story the way he wanted to portray himself,” Michel’le said. “And he allowed me the opportunity to portray myself in my story. And I think my truth will stand when we get to court, if we do.”

Last year, Dre released a public apology for the women he’d abused in the past through the New York Times, placing the blame on alcohol.

    1. Props to Daz for speaking on what his accounts are/were. The guy keeps 100 all the time and his depiction in this matter is no different. Grow up? Man was rich as teenager. I’m sure more accounts will come but so far only Daz has mentioned anything and that’sonly in HIS social media accounts. Do why would he lie

      1. Facts my G. I Was Wondering About That Pac/Suge Scene Too. Glad SOMEBODY Spoke On That Shit. Get Ya Money Daz!

        1. the tupac movie and michelles story were consistent on how suge refered to tupac on numerous occassions…Tupac wasnt going to challenge suge because he bought his freedom..facts…

      1. Personally, I prefer it when people speaking their mind have something of value to say.

All Daz does here is prove himself to be an immature dimwit with issues relating to women.

    2. The Tupac scenes in Surviving Compton amount to what? A minute of screentime? OK, maybe Suge didn’t talk to Pac like that in real life, but still Michel’le portrayed Pac as a good guy and friend in his brief scenes. People take such issue with this short scene, yet didn’t pay attention to what the film was really about: Dre and Suge controlling taking advantage of a naive Michel’le and abusing her.

I feel that Daz (and several male rap/hip-hop fans) completely missed the point of the film. It wasn’t to show how tough Tupac was; it was to raise awareness of domestic abuse and mistreatment of women in society.

The fact that Daz calls Michel’le a bitch shows that only does he need to grow the fuck up, but society really needs to change its attitude towards women and stop viewing them as objects to be controlled and degraded. It’s something that plagues the rap community especially.

    3. So Daz making fun of a women being beating and abuse, damn dude must not love his mom or have daughters. Nothing funny about that, and even more f up is you trying to justify it by calling her a hoe like that makes it right. Dude in his 40’s and is still immature that kinda sad.

    4. Daz so happy that he can say something. When he had a hit? Dogg food because of kurupt. He recently said he buying ruthless records. He saying whateva for some attention. Nobody gives a fuck about daz. Who is that???????????????????????? Get rid of ya selfself, Fuck Boy

    5. Well, after hearing Daz commentary, I can safely say that I feel 100% correct in my stance in not investing in kind or wooing gestures from men. That said, having fallen on hard times and being offered generosity from men who tried to stroke my ego and proffer conviences I could not afford myself, Im glad my instincts allow me to detect the threat and banality in this. As a victim of abuse, but being unaware of Miss Mich’ele story, I can identify with being discouraged from seeking accountability for said abuse. There was no reputation or monetary factor to my speaking out so I can not relate to the potential repercussions she may be incurring. But it was taboo to go to the law. For anything. Realising now, that you have to disengage from codes and practices that sole purpose is to permit manipulation for the benefit of the abuser, and speaking from a point of concern for women who are systematically disempowered, if Mich’ele is simply wishing to be heard and valued as a human being I wish her much peace, power & prosperity.
