The 6 God Has Returned: Five Explosive Rhymes From Drake’s “Summer Sixteen”

Between canoodling with Apple, serving as a near-fatal blow for Meek Mill’s rap career and two extremely successful surprise projects, it’s safe to say that Drake damn near ruled every conversation of 2015. October’s Very Own head manages to become the center of conversation after a fairly explosive week (Thanks to Kanye West and Amber Rose) through Views From the 6 single “ Summer Sixteen.” This, of course, comes after Drizzy found himself featured on Rihanna’s “Work” single from her recently released Anti project. With very little singing and heavy on the bars, Drake gets the most aggressive he’s been since “Back to Back.” A full 180° from ending the year off with the viral sensation of “Hotline Bling,” Drizzy is doing everything in his power to remind everyone of why he’s the 6 God. With that in mind, here are five notable rhymes from “Summer 16” that has everyone talking at the moment.

Drake Is Officially Over Meek Mill Beef

“I let the diss record drop you were standing right below me, nigga / We must have played it a hundred times, you was going to bed / Why would I put on a vest I expect you to aim for the head? / I coulda killed you the first time / You don’t have to try to say it louder nigga / We could hear you the first time / It’s nothing personal I would have done it to anyone.”

Mere moments after Meek Mill dropped part two of his Dreamchasers 4/4 series, Drizzy made everyone forget that the Philly rapper even existed. Talk about good timing. Though Mill sends some shots Drake’s way on the project, the masses will probably not care enough to even notice much. If anyone needed a reminder, “Back to Back” made the winner obvious. Too bad Mill hasn’t realized it yet.

Drizzy Could Be Salty Over President Obama Calling Kendrick A Better Lyricist

“Tell Obama that my verses are like the whips that he in / They bulletproof”

During a live stream interview earlier this month, President Obama was asked a question of who would win a battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. There’s something about getting a co-sign from the nation’s first black president after the release of To Pimp a Butterfly that almost felt symbolic. Obama picked the Compton emcee as the better lyricist between both artists. From the looks of things, Mr. Aubrey Graham took that to heart.

Torey Lanez Is Put On Notice

“All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little / All your ex’s know I like my O’s with a V in the middle / You would love it if I went away or didn’t say nothing else”

Remember that one tweet from Torey Lanez where he called Drake’s usage of the number “6” in describing Toronto lame?

Well, looks like we have our response here and it’s in true form. Makes sense for OVO to keep things very subliminal and dismiss them as benefactors to his success.

Drake Wanted To Sign With Roc-A-Fella At One Time

“Used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay”

The Jay Z and Drake comparisons get more glaring as time moves on. And, this is coming from the same guy who once rhymed that he’d cry a puddle of tears if Hov died. From student to master, the OVO king made a grand statement in his past ambitions. Like any aspiring rapper of the late 90s / early 2000’s, the Toronto native once wanted to sign to The Roc. Now, he’s reached the status of his idol and managed to break a few of his past records in the meantime.

He Can Flex On Kanye West Levels

“Now I got a house in LA, Now I got a bigger pool than Ye / And look man, Ye’s pool is nice, mine is just bigger is what I’m saying”

This was a tongue-in-cheek reference to Kanye’s persona as an egomaniac while throwing out a factoid of his luxurious lifestyle. That “Ye’s pool is nice” only adds a humorous flair that only Drake could really pull off.

    2. Drizzy, you will be never on Hova’s level man!!!! Im a big fan of you but your not in the same league of Jay-Z. You can’t spit raps like Jay. Even Kanye makes beter records than you.

    3. Both of these niggas took a L. At the height of the beef they were stayin in the same hotel. Hella lame. Ion wanna hear meek screamin ass threating bodily harm NO MORE. Cause i now know he ain’t bout shit. And ion wanna hear drake crooning ass talk SHIT ELSE bout what his 6 niggas will do cause they ain’t gonna do SHIT. they had a oppurtunity and they all slept peacefully. Lame ass industry niggas

    4. Keep talking shit, drizzy.
we are listening to golden thoughts and feeling the King’s spirit : Kendrick.

      Go instruct yourself, fools.

      1. Speak 4 yourself FUKK nigga…just because we ain’t on the bandwagon dickridin yellow bus to the 6 doesn’t mean it’s hate…that’s what’s wrong with u bitch mutha4kaz always in ur feelings when someone doesn’t like ur shit….and no all naija’s DONT love drake fool! #NINJA ……..#NIGERANSintheNEWJERSEYAREA

      2. I swear this was the best reply I read on here in months bro your the fuckin man. That shit was funny as fuck

    5. Drake just has good music.. Hate all you want, I had a listen to war pain which came our right after this.. It was Meeks best diss track he’s released so far.. But you still lost boy, take the L and move on.

    6. Horrible biased editorial. Meek took a win in this situation solely based on the fact he knew this track was coming out and had his diss which referenced this unreleased track already ready. He heard this before it was released. This staff is full of fan ass idiots who are on drakes dick like Fox News and Donald trump

      1. You don’t know music if this is classic, Drake is weak and wack. Yall on this singing niggas dick, his shit is overrated and I ain’t even real, nothing he says his genuine just talking out his foot

    7. Bragging about how big ur pool is lol tf…shit was weaker den Meek Mills punches…now Meek dis was fire squad, he’s talking about snatching niggas OVO butt plug chain, pistol whipping etc. dat gangsta talk…

    8. Damn this is bias cool song wasn’t hard as back to back Meek won this round real nigga oppion I fuck wit both

      West side Chiraq DreamChasers!!!!!!!6k 5????

    9. You’d think after all this time the trolling would stop. Doesn’t matter what dudes are saying,y’all can “keep it real” as much as you want. This dude is methodical. Numbers don’t lie,all publicity is good. Watch a boy from Toronto have all y’all on his nuts anyway and pull numbers unheard of in this current hip hop climate. Anyone in the music business acting like this kind of popularity and mainstream appeal isn’t what artists are looking for is just broke. Get your money up and realize these rappers and mcees ain’t struggling for shit, keeping it real is making something of yourself. Stay in your lane

    10. what really pisses me off on this site are the headlines they come up with, Hiphopdx crew as a whole are so biased and they keep putting it in our face, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO TAKE SIDES YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO TELL IT AS IT IS from the kanye/wiz twiiter beef… i came on here only to see the headline “kanye destroys wiz khalifa while it was so obvious kanye was making a fool of himself… now we all know Meeks “WAR PAIN” was the better track drake got the L on this one.. don’t sugar coat shit

    11. The truth is war pain and summer sixteen are not hot. They both have their smirk able moments and corny moments. Production is fire tho

    12. this song is so overrated.. like what did you guys listen to? Drake can’t do anything else.. he has no versatility. This is just a repeat of the same old Drake shit we heard on IFGAYRETARD and Back to Back. Drake can’t rhyme without Quentin Miller.. fact

    13. I agree w previous comments as well, this site is another example of bias corporate media telling people what to like or how to feel in subtle and not so subtle ways

    14. Whatever happened to rappers having lines that rhymed?

His Meek Mill disses rhymed head with bed and first time with first time. The whole message in it wasn’t enough to give a pass for that.

His Kanye West, Obama and Roc-A-Fella lines are just garbage

And his thing about Tory Lanez, who give a fuck his O’s with the V’s in the middle doesn’t even really make sense outside of OVO but he says it as if it’s some sort of double entendre

Please stop with the dick riding HipHopDX and any of you other pre-teens who think Drake is GOAT. We already established this dude doesn’t even write the garbage he says. This is such shit. Hiphop is shit

      1. All his “Xs know I like my Os with a V in the middle”=
        xo=kisses or
        Xs like ovo
        = double entendre
        But shoutout to Quentin

    15. “The Jay Z and Drake comparisons get more glaring as time moves on. ”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You actually believe that bullshit!? Like for real? lol For real, for real? hahahaha WOW! Okay. kids, please listen cause its important. Ural knows nothing about hiphop he just really really loves Drake.

    16. REAL NEWS ALERT!!!
There must be a mole in Drake’s camp because just hours after he released ‘Summer Sixteen’ — in which he took shots at rival Meek Mill — Meek released a response, ‘War Pain,’ to his SoundCloud. The quick response time is because, according to Meek’s Instagram, ‘the ghost writer told me.’
Meek Mill released a response to Drake‘s “Summer Sixteen” just hours after its Jan. 30 release, claiming that ghostwriter Quentin Miller warned him about the track well ahead of time.

    17. Um, what’s happening to hiphop? Realness done flip flopped, Your ghostwriter should be the goat, but these young moist niggas wanna hear other negus quotes…yup.

    18. Drake ain’t o that this site makes him to be… he ain’t never gon be a hov.. bubble gum raps, he shud hav stopped at back to back I think.. now its super cony!

    19. Blah! Blah!! Blah!!!… Moral of the lesson, non of your opinions really do matter. So why sweat on other people’s problem I mean don’t you guys have yours that you need to pay attention to? At least all this bitch ass niggas like you call em are busy doing things that make their bank account accumulate. Cunny or not it’s a little bit of hard work. Even an armed robber puts a little bit of hard work for every successful operation.

That’s one of the many reasons I don’t fuck w drake, the others are that I think he is an entitled corny mama’s boy that makes R&B music that is self pretentious that dumb niggas think is deep but is kiddie pool shallow. His rhyme schemes are as basic as Pac half the time without the meaning or quotables.

    21. This guy sounds like saucewalka in tha chorus.. I really understand how sauce feels about the subject.this guy aubrey is a culture vulture. Listen to any sauce walka songs chorus nd you will hear this to be true. I hope people can evaluate between fame to see the truth for what it is
