Method Man began his career as one of the most lyrically and commercially balanced members of Wu-Tang Clan and was one of only two individuals to get a solo song on Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the Wu’s debut album. Meth became the first solo artist spun off from the group as well, signing with Def Jam for the release of his solo debut, Tical ,in 1994.
The album, which featured “All I Need,” which was remixed with Mary J. Blige and renamed “I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By” garnered a Grammy for Method Man.
Method Man would appear with Notorious B.I.G. on “The What” and was the only guest featured on Big’s debut album, Ready to Die. His appearance on the Batman Forever soundtrack with “The Riddler,” produced by RZA, was an appearance that helped further his crossover appeal.
Method Man would also appear with Tupac Shakur and the Dogg Pound on “Got My Mind Made Up” off Tupac’s All Eyez on Me. Meth would appear on Redman’s Muddy Waters album on “Do What Ya Feel” in 1996.
Method would team with his Wu-Tang brethren on Wu-Tang Forever in 1997. The album went double platinum and was nominated for a Grammy Award. Meth’s second album was titled Tical 2000: Judgement Day and was released in 1998. It went double platinum.
Method Man would team with Redman to release Blackout! In 1999.
After Wu released The W and Iron Flag in consecutive years, Method Man would release Tical 0: The Prequel in 2004. The album featured guest appearances from Milly Elliott and P. Diddy, among others. It went gold.
4:21: The Day After, Method Man’s fourth studio album, dropped in August 2006, featuring Havoc, Erick Sermon, Allah Mathematics and RZA, among others. Method Man and Redman would release Blackout! 2 in May 2009 after being pushed back from a December release date. It featured production by Erick Sermon, Rockwilder and Pete Rock.
Method Man’s fifth studio album is to be titled Crystal Meth. However, after much speculation for nearly a decade, there is currently no release date.
Method Man has had the most commercially successful solo career of any Wu-Tang Clan member.
Method Man is one of the only rappers who was friends with both Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur up until the time of their respective deaths.
Method Man has had a very successful career as an actor in film and television.
