Troy Ave caught a bullet last spring in the Irving Plaza shooting in New York City. His bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, lost his life. The new video for “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” addresses the incident while, once again, drawing comparisons to the late Tupac Shakur.
Directed by Troy Ave and WhiteApeFilms, the video finds the Brooklyn rapper flossing his ankle bracelet and jail-like flip flops as he dives into details about what exactly went down, at least from his perspective. It also pays tribute to his fallen friend Banga, who he wrote about on Instagram.
The song comes from his latest mixtape, NuPac, and (of course) samples a 2Pac original.
