Australian production collective The Avalanches tapped the vocal talents of Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs for “Bad Day,” a song eerily reminiscent of early CunninLynguists material. With samples of Stevie Wonder’s “For Once In My Life” and Shuggie Otis’ “Strawberry Letter 23,” the clever beatsmiths sew them both together into one cohesive fabric as Gibbs rides the laid-back beat. The Avalanches recently teamed up with Camp Lo’s Sonny Cheeba for “Because I’m Me” and released their first album in 16 years, Wildflower. Listen to the new track above.
