YNW Melly’s ongoing murder trial has sparked a huge increase in his streaming numbers, with the Florida rapper gaining thousands of new monthly listeners in June.
According to Bryson “Boom” Paul, who has been reporting on the trial, Melly’s Spotify numbers shot up last week as a result of his long-delayed capital double murder trial finally kicking off on June 12.

Since then, Melly has accrued 794,119 new monthly listeners on Spotify, an 8.2% increase in one week alone. This means YNW Melly now has 10,468,061 monthly listeners.
“Murder On My Mind” remains Melly’s most streamed song, and now has 899,912,860 streams.
After nearly four long years, YNW Melly’s murder trial finally got underway last week and is expected to continue on Tuesday (June 20).
Local10.com previously reported that David Howard — one of the attorneys for the Florida native — moved for a mistrial in the case after Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy dismissed the testimony of Felicia Holmes, the mother of one of YNW Melly’s ex-girlfriends, who was declared a hostile witness for the prosecution. Judge Murphy announced that he would not declare a mistrial.
Prior to the second day of the trial, YNW Melly asked his fans and supporters to pray for him in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Go watch and support me during trial [light green heart] send a prayer for me [praying hands emoji][Earth emoji] Day 2,” he wrote.
If convicted, the “Murder On My Mind” rapper could potentially face the death penalty, and the whole process has begun to take a toll on Melly’s family, especially his mother Jamie King, who said she suffered a heart attack as a result of the stress.

Jamie King took to her Instagram Stories earlier this week to push back against trolls criticizing her rapper son, who has been accused of murdering his two friends, Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams.
“I’m deleting this app I can’t be crying and making myself upset because of a lying clout chaser who won’t even show his face in court but care so much,” King wrote. “I had 1 heart attack already because of stress I refuse to let this kill me i try to be peaceful and respectful to all of you. I pray for everyone because I know it’s the right thing to do.”
