Troy Ave Is Being Held Without Bail Until Trial

Troy Ave appeared at Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday (May 30) for a hearing regarding the shooting at a T.I. concert at New York’s Irving Plaza Wednesday (May 25). According to the New York Times, he showed up for his hearing in a wheelchair after being released from the hospital for medical treatment for a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was officially charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The primary evidence that prosecutors used was an 8-second surveillance video that police say shows Ave storming out of a green room and firing a gun.

The BSB rapper sought $50,000 bail, but his request was denied and he is reportedly being held without bail until his trial.

Ave’s attorneys say he did not shoot himself in the leg, as initially reported, and instead they are portraying him as the victim in the incident that left one dead and three wounded. The fatality was Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, who was Ave’s bodyguard. Ave’s lawyers say that the rapper, born Roland Collins, should not be held liable for the death of his friend.

“He’s the real victim here,” Scott E. Leemon, one of Ave’s lawyers said in court. “McPhatter died a hero trying to protect Mr. Collins. He was not shot by Mr. Collins.”

The New York Daily News says that police found three guns inside the van that Ave took to the hospital and their investigation concluded that one of the guns was fired at Irving Plaza.

Ave pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    1. I hope he beats this. I’m not a big fan of Troy but I rock with some of it. Taxtone is a sucker though and im actually sad he wasnt hit… Oh well. Maybe next time.

    2. Not a fan of Troy Ave but now that the smoke is clearing a lot of stuff don’t make sense. if he shit himself why he had to cock the back again. They only show him shooting. Did the camera just work only for 8 seconds. Who is the guy running before Troy enters the room.? He still an idiot for shooting in the club but if he ain’t kill his boy and he didn’t shoot himself then who? Look fuck the street code about not snitching. If indeed Troy was the one who did all the shooting then put him under the jail but if he wasn’t somebody need to come forward cause nobody should go to jail for a crime they didn’t do. What’s all this talk about taxstone and his boy being the ones behind the shooting? Can anyone confirm

    3. Theres new video footage of the shooting. Somebody was right there READY to record the “brawl” in the VIP room. They knew they were about to fight thats why the camera was ready, but it turned into a gun fight.

    4. That video of Troy Ave busting a gun is hard to overcome. I don’t see a clear self defense argument because it appears Troy came out aimlessly shooting and endangering innocent lives.

      1. Look at it AGAIN Champ! Watch how the ppl to the far left are scattering AS HE COMES IN. Look at how he’s limping when he busts thru the door with the two dudes. When the video is blown up you can see a stain on his leg. It APPEARS as he might’ve been shot when he came in and him and his goons were chasing whomever clapped em and once he saw dude he let that thang blow. Watch it again Bro.

      2. did u notice how the people that came out the room with him were’t scared of him? bcz they knew he was only shooting back in selfdefense

    5. Being that he is a rapper I’m sure the judge will set an example on rappers who wanna be cowboys…

    6. O if u even thinking about making or wearing free Troy ave crap ur dum in the head like he was…

    7. I don’t WTF happened cuz i wasn’t there. But what I do know is that there’s more to the story than what we’re being told. At first glance it appears that Troy on sum wild cowboy shit but if you look CLOSELY you’ll see that when he enters the VIP ppl were already ducking and Troy was already limping. That says to ME that something already happened prior to him busting in and it looks as if he had been shot and was probably chasing down whomever clapped em in the leg. I was one of the first to call him a bozo based on first glance but there’s alot more we don’t know yet.

      1. I’m with how a uck eope ucking already troy comes i bust inbut n pointlike e timingat his targetreal nigga shit it don’t take rocket science to tell nigga shot troy n DA leg killed his bodyguard so he self-defense dey kick it off first

    8. Damn it sucks, i wont judge cuz 1. Idk what happened , all i kno is a video of him shooting 2. Idk the circumstances that lead to it so f it.

      1. wow, someone who is a critical thinker on hiphopdx. most of these clowns already talking like they swear they know what happened.

    9. troy good…slim thug/joe badbutt must feel dumb af…this aint goin do nothin but boost his g statis in the rap game..

    10. Three years just for criminal possession of a weapon in NY alone. Wish him the best, but once the ballistics tests are completed that’s when shit hits the fan. Who am I to judge his decision? #stopjudgingtroyave #taxstoneactlikesomebodyowehimsumnfuckhim

    11. If Troy Ave was a police officer he would be at home right now.
I’m not glorifying what happened, the fact of the matter is no one really knows what went down on that night but the criminal system is f***ed up. Now whether if Troy Ave is guilty or not is none of my business but you gotta admit, COPS get away with a lot of shit, including cold blooded murder.

    12. Damn…T.I. lost his friend Phil to this shit and then loses Doe B to this shit, now Troy Ave loses his bodyguard to this shit at a T.I. concert…Tip’s gotta be sick to death of this.

    13. TI and Troy ave are both responsible for this, they should be locked up for life…or at least do shyne time!!!
