    This week, Hip Hop lost one of its veteran rappers. Heavy D unexpectedly passed away this past Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the community. On a brighter note, Drake is gearing up for his sophomore album Take Care, while Fat Joe theorized that Hip Hop is run by a “gay mafia” and that closeted rappers shouldn’t be afraid to show who they really are. Hip Hop is also projected to have a strong week on the charts, with Mac Miller’s debut Blue Slide Park poised to debut at number one, making it the second indie album in history to bow atop the charts.

    Heavy D Passes Away, Hip Hop Expresses Its Condolences

    On Tuesday, Hip Hop unexpectedly lost one of its veteran players. In the early afternoon, Heavy D returned to his apartment in Los Angeles, California, where a neighbor called an ambulance after witnessing his health fail. He later died from undisclosed causes. While his absence sent shockwaves through the community, Hip Hop players paid their respects to the fallen soldier. His first cousin Pete Rock reminisced on recently recording with him, B.o.B expressed his inspiration from him and his peers taking to Twitter to remember the rapper. 

    Drake Gears Up For “Take Care” Release, Reveals Mixtape With Rick Ross

    With his sophomore album Take Care arriving on Tuesday (Nov. 15th), Drake has been heavy on the promo grind for his second LP. With the album leaking a week in advance, the Young Money rapper spoke on his debut Thank Me Later, stating that he wasn’t necessarily happy with the project, further explaining that he “dropped the ball” on a collaboration with his inspirer Phonte. He also reflected on his favorite Lil Wayne verse, and said that while fans might mistake his honesty for being overly emotional, he’s got all of his chips in order.

    Fat Joe Theorizes That Hip Hop Is Run By A “Gay Mafia”

    Fat Joe dropped some knowledge on the Hip Hop community this week. After fielding a question about Mister Cee’s arrest for alleged male prostitution, Joey Crack said that there are many gays in the culture and that he’s even collaborated with closeted rappers on songs. Joe, who recently released his mixtape The Darkside, Part 2 , continued by deeming Hip Hop “the greatest gay market in the world,” stating that the “gay mafia” runs things. He wouldn’t address the Mister Cee allegations, but said that gay rappers need to come out.

    Mac Miller Gears Up For His Debut, Projected To Drop At Number One

    Mac Miller has been on the endless tour for the past few years, and his debut album Blue Slide Park finally hit stores, showing that hard work really does pay off. The album, which dropped last Tuesday, is projected to sell 278,000 copies, making it the first indie artist since Daz and Kurupt to bow at the top of the charts. Additionally, the Pittsburgh kid provided some insight on his success, comparing his career to peer Asher Roth. Mac said that he personally achieved his success because he was being himself, while Asher pandered to a college crowd and went down a lane that didn’t represent who he truly is.
