Taxstone’s Lawyer Asks Why Troy Ave Is Free After Irving Plaza Shooting

Days after Troy Ave was called out by the family of the late Ronald McPhatter, the Brooklyn rapper has once again found himself at the center of accusatory claims.

Bossip reports that Taxstone, the Hip Hop podcast host arrested in connection with last year’s deadly shooting at Irving Plaza, has expressed confusion at why Troy is a free man in a letter penned by his lawyer.

The May 2016 shooting resulted in the death of Troy Ave associate/bodyguard Ronald McPhatter.

In an attempt to get out of jail, Taxstone recently recruited his lawyer to write the letter, which notes that the social media personality is not a flight risk and was running a successful podcast prior to the shooting.

“After several mistakes in his life, Mr. Campbell has made efforts to change his life around and seek redemption through his occupation as a podcaster and music and entertainment insider,” Taxstone’s lawyer Ken Montgomery wrote in the letter to Judge Lorna Schofield.

Additionally, the lawyer questioned why Troy Ave is a free man despite his more serious charges, and his alleged involvement in a club shooting, which took place days before the Irving Plaza incident.

Although Taxstone, whose $500,000 bail was ultimately revoked, has reportedly yet to be officially charged, at the top of this year he was indicted on a handful of charges, including possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and receiving a gun through interstate commerce.

Troy Ave is out on bail, and is looking at an attempted murder charge.

    1. “After several mistakes in his life, Mr. Campbell has made efforts to change his life around and seek redemption through his occupation as a podcaster and music and entertainment insider,” “… no he hasnt! all this happened because he was hating on troy for no reason for years like a scorned woman! then he couldn’t take that ass whooping like a man and had to pull out a gun in a crowded club! You call that making an effort to change his life? Be safe tho lmao

      1. True story. These cats are insufferable. They are all cool and gangster til shit hits the fan then they wanna front like they were really decent human beings trying to get their lives together. Anybody with a brain aint buying that. This is the life he chose.

        1. You clearly have never heard Taxstone talk on his podcast. He has denounced being a “gangster” and a thug many times. He has always said he is now a civilian. So all of you guys need to do some research and stop being so ignorant.

          1. He murdered somebody after he was doing his podcast. Cry me a river, you are an ignorant apologist with no spine. If taxstone told u the sky was green you would agree.

            1. WHY DO EXIST AS A HUMAN, IF U HAVE OH SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THEY LIFE….THE FUCK DO U DO IN YOURS. JUST READ AND STFU

            2. Lol u mad cause the world doesnt accept scum bags like Taxstone as decent human beings? Cry me a river. Lead a decent life if you want people to give a fuck about you. If you choose to be a scum bag then u have to lie in the bed u made u butthurt lil bitch

    2. Taxstone is a grade A scum bag…whether Troy ave is free or not has nothing to do with him. He belongs in jail. He’s an uncivilized criminal. Troy ave will be joining him in there soon enough with the life he insists on portraying. All these malcontents act like complete pieces of shit and then expect people to feel sympathy. Nah.

    3. The real question is why is this bitch ass fraud free. Die slow u dumb fuck fake ass celebrity. Go fucking die

    4. We still ain’t going to learn from this situation. We going to continue to say gangsta life is the best life until the chip start falling down and all of sudden you hear “why me” . Why can’t we ever promote healthy living, ownership of property, good credit, education? My Black ppl when you realize that fighting each other is negative attribute to us all it’s going to be wayyyyy too late. I think it’s already too late. Smh

    5. Since everyone here is defending Troy Ave or Taxstone, can one of you expert detectives tell me exactly what happened that night? All I see is a video of Troy Ave limping around and shooting somewhere.

    6. Very simple answer to why Troys out, he posted the large cash bond. Its not like hes actually free or that the charges where dropped. He still has his day in court coming up. Sounds to me like Tax just mad cause his ass cant get the funds to bail himself out and Troy did. Maybe Tax should of thought about the consequences before sneaking a pistol inside the venue. Just sayin.

    7. More children to grow up fatherless out here the children are the ones who suffer the most when these dumb things go down like this when will this fake gangsta fad end

    8. He made an effor to “change his life and gain redemption” but felt the need to open fire in a public space, killing someone. Get this the fuck outta here. More “but they also did it” tattle tale bullshit.

    9. So the news here is… one fake rich black dude murdered another black guy who is fake rich over nothing… doesn’t this happen like 300+ times a year in Chicago alone? Who’s life matters in this situation? Shouldn’t the cops have shot ayltvleast one of the people involved, statistically? What does the genius T.I. have to say about this? He is a black rights advocate/ convicted felon.

        1. I would say even less people care about the opinion of somebody who calls himself gang gang…u unoriginal unauthentic peon
