As A$AP Rocky continues to sit the behind the bars of a Swedish jail, Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian have been in talks with Donald Trump to get him out.
On Saturday morning (July 20), Trump confirmed he’d spoken to Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and offered to vouch for Rocky’s bail.
“Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Löfven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly,” he tweeted. “Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative.”
Trump added, “Our teams will be talking further, and we agreed to speak again in the next 48 hours!”
According to the Associated Press, the prime minister’s press secretary, Toni Eriksson, confirmed Löfven and Trump had a conversation that “was friendly and respectful and lasted about 20 minutes.”
Eriksson added in a statement, Löfven “made certain to emphasize the complete independence of the Swedish judicial system, prosecutors and courts. He underlined that in Sweden everyone is equal before the law and that the government cannot and will not attempt to influence the legal proceedings.”
The two leaders may have a follow-up call, “but nothing has been booked or planned,” she said.
Despite Trump’s intervention, Löfven made it clear the A$AP Mob rapper wouldn’t receive any type of special treatment.
“I understand that President Trump has a personal interest in the case,” Löfven said. “He has expressed the desire for a conversation with me, which is certainly positive.”
Rocky has been in jail since July 2 after being arrested for his alleged involvement in an assault. On Friday (July 19), a judge deemed him a “flight risk” and ruled he must remain imprisoned while prosecutors determine whether they will indict him.
They are expected to have a final decision by July 25.

Sweden doesnt have the bail system that the US have. In Sweden the prosecutor have to account to a court every 14:th day why somebody has to stay locked up in confiment during investigation,No cash or political pull makes any differens,your laywer can also attend and give reasons to why his/hers client should be Free awaiting trial. If the prosecutor at any time finds that the legal reasons for holding someone locked up isnt sufficient according to legal premise for keeping someone locked up,they have to let them go,and if you are locked up until trial and get a not guilty verdict,the state/court have to pay a pretty hefty fine to the one who was locked up.
