Snoop Dogg Thinks He Should Be JAY-Z’s Verzuz Instagram Battle Challenger

Snoop Dogg is stepping up to the plate as a potential Verzuz challenger for JAY-Z. On the heels of DMX calling out Hov for a battle, the D-O-Double-G contends he’s the appropriate opponent for an Instagram Live clash with the Roc Nation boss.

During an interview with Fat Joe, Snoop explained why — in his mind — he’s the best competition for Hov in Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz battle series.

Nas was on the rise with [Jay], so it was never like who is the one-one,” he said. “And then Biggie passed away and then Nas had it for a minute And then JAY-Z took it and ran with it for a numerous amount of years. And then 50 Cent came and ran with it for a numerous amount of years.

“This is me looking in from the outside, looking at New York rap. So to me, it would be either Snoop versus JAY-Z because he has been the king of New York around the time I was the king of the west.”

Joe agreed with Snoop and noted Jay’s a more fitting opponent for the West Coast legend than 50 Cent, who floated the idea of battling Snoop in an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood. But Joey Crack had some doubts about Hov ever competing in a Verzuz battle.

“That sounds like the ultimate battle: Snoop Dogg against JAY-Z,” he said. “Now, I don’t know if JAY-Z will do it because he’s kinda like Dr. Dre. JAY-Z, we love him, but JAY-Z [is an] introvert, quiet. But Snoop Dogg, JAY-Z … I’m not taking nothing away 50, but I just know that when you’re both GOATS down and you gotta swim ashore, it’s a long swim. Snoop Dogg been doing this [for] 25 years.”

Snoop added, “Been swimming since ’92!”

DMX Calls Out JAY-Z For Verzuz Instagram Battle

So far, Swizz and Timbaland have been able to stage battles between massive stars in their Verzuz arena. DJ Premier versus RZA, Babyface versus Teddy Riley and Erykah Badu versus Jill Scott have all pulled in big audiences, but Hov could take the Instagram Live showdowns to another level if he’s willing to partake. This Saturday (May 16), Ludacris and Nelly are set to be the next to battle against each other as they will each display their lengthy catalogue of hits.

Snoop and DMX have thrown their hats in the ring as potential opponents for Hov, so the competition is there if he wants it. But like Dr. Dre, it may be a difficult task to convince him to participate.

      1. That would have been true back then. Right now Hov is on Level 10 and Nas Level 5. Nas needs a sympathy battle for him to keep his head above water and get a small fraction of recognition just to say Nas was here too. Nas vs Jim Jones is more like it. Clear win for Nas. #Sympathy

        1. This the dumbest ish you’ve ever wrote. That Clorox remedy must have gotten in your head smh

        2. Nas Vs. Eminem, Snoop Dogg vs Rick Ross, Jay-Z vs Lil’ Wayne, Drake vs Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole vs Lupe Fiasco, Dr. Dre vs Puff, 50 Cent vs Ice Cube, Nicki Minaj vs Cardi B.

    1. Snoop and JayZ? Yeah fuckin right lmao. Snoop VS Daz Dillinger or Kurupt, sure. Jay is wayyyyyy out of Snoops league. Snoop is not an Mc by any means.

      1. Do you know what this is about? It’s song vs song. Whether or not you think Snoop is or isn’t an MC has nothing to do with it. Snoop’s best SONGS murder Jays.

    2. I actually agree with this. Jay-Z has way deeper content and is a way better lyricist, but most of his music between ’98 and the Black Album was Neptunes-produced radio stuff, which is what Snoop has pretty much always done. Not saying they don’t have good tracks, both of them have classics, but in 2003 neither one of them would have been out of place doing a verse on some top 40 pop song. The fact that they both did gangster styles AND did pop songs AND managed to keep their credibility with the hip hop heads (unlike, say, Ja Rule who was also mega popular at the time), I’d say this match up would be perfect. Just my two cents.

      1. would he? pac is a fuckin fake. ballet ass balitmore mf tryna be west coast only reason u give a fuck is cause hes dead. he woulda sold out so fuckin hard.

    3. It’s difficult to think of who to battle against jay-z. Snoop is huge. But — jay z is beyond hip hop in a way .. he’s bigger than music ? So it’s difficult. Plus, jay music Has changed and kept with the times .. maybe the R well matched .. hmm who else wud battle snoop hes way bigger than any west coast artists (for example) maybe snoop versus outkast ? Both broke outside of just hip hop fans ? But I’m just thinking aloud. Not sure. And who shud battle Nas ??? It’s hard

      1. There’s no one that Jay would step to except Eminem. EM would shred Jay but it’s the best for both of them.

    4. I dont think any rapper has snoops catalog. He’s top 20 best songs is better than any rappers best 20 songs. You have the Chronic, Doggystyle, Murder Was The Case Soundtrack, Chronic 2001, Top Dogg, Eastsidaz albums, Pharrell produced albums etc etc. plus his features with doggpound and 2pac etc etc. only biggie, jay, nas or pac could compete track for track.

    5. Nah , best challenger for Jay z would be R Kelly … best of both worlds style …. and winner gets to pee on Bow wow for old times sake.

    6. Jay z’s only legitimate contender is R Kelly.. they should go at it …. best of both worlds style … and winner gets to pee on bow wow for old time’s sake .

      1. Plz don’t compare the genius of R. Kelly to Jay-Z. U may clown him over what he has done but Kelly is on another level.

    7. This would have been perfect in terms of catalog but snoop already lost because there are albums that snoop openly didn’t write his own lyrics to and that automatically makes you disqualified. Jay Vs Cube maybe if we are going by coast.

    8. Jay’s lyrical tracks are way better than Snoop Dogg’s but Snoop’s party or club tracks mop the floor with Jay’s upbeat songs so idk…

    9. King of the west coast? Booooy! You have never had that title! ? You’ve always been outshine by everyone in the west. Not even as a hook king, Nate took that the whole time he was alive. You’ve been a good side kick to everyone though ?

      1. Snoop still is the king of the west coast. What are you talking about. There is no one who has sold more or has more hits than snoop on the west coast. Snoop had the highest debut in hip hop history for over 10 years before 50’s get rich.

        1. Hell no. Snoop isn’t even an Mc. He has more trash throw away albums than good albums. His newest albums get no views because nobody cares. Yes, Doggystyle was great. And GRODT beat snoops sales. That doesn’t make 50 the king of NY lmao

    10. This battle should happen, it’s pretty much even but I have snoop winning clearly. JAY-Z has the career height advantage but snoop has the longevity advantage. Jay is more lyrical than snoop but snoop is a better hitmaker than jay. This would be interesting. Plus the East vs West situation would come full circle but this time it will be peaceful. Hope they do it

    11. Eminem “Slim Shady” is the only one who can go toe to toe with hits against Jigga Jay Z.
      Noone else

    12. Drake is another person who has hits to keep up with Jay Z .. it’s just that Drake is too soft and too much R and B to be in the same category…
Too bad Tupac isn’t alive “fuck Jay Z ”
      Hit em up reference

    13. Jigga better than Snoop?
Are you kids high or what… E’en Hov can tell you Snoop is King gee, ya’ll kids need to be zip it and go play outside.. lol Talkin bout Jigga better than Snoop Doggy Dogg
