The coronavirus pandemic wrecked Run The Jewels’ tour plans with Rage Against The Machine, but it’s not stopping the duo from releasing new music.
After previewing a song titled “Yankee & The Brave” in an Instagram livestream, El-P and Killer Mike officially dropped the track on Sunday (March 22).
“YANKEE AND THE BRAVE EP.4 the ‘jump the street corona edition,'” El-P wrote via social media. “a little something for all of you to hold you down in strange times.”
“Yankee & The Brave” gives fans a taste of what to expect on the highly anticipated Run The Jewels 4 LP, which is expected to arrive later this year. Although the duo hasn’t announced a release date for the album, El-P recently indicated those details are coming soon.
“DONT ASK WHEN IT DROPS WE DONT KNOW YET WE WILL SOON IN THE MEANTIME PUNCH A HOLE IN THE WALL TO THIS SHIT,” he declared in an Instagram post on Saturday (March 21).

RTJ 4 will be the follow-up to Run The Jewels 3, which dropped on Christmas Eve in 2016. Mike and El-P’s upcoming project was first announced in 2018.

I dont hate RTJ, but I dont get their appeal at all.
What’s not to get? It’s Public Enemy, it’s Rage Against the Machine, it’s space B-boy, it’s alarming, it’s energetic. And then you have to consider the live show. I put their live show up against ANY hip hop act out now.
It’s fake woke, typical, predictable music. I really did enjoy their first couple of albums, but then they didn’t progress or change at all, and even had worse beat selection. They just became far too predictable to me. The rage against the machine and NWA thing is played out… They can still do it because they started it, but at this point, new guys doing it is cheesy IMO. But hey, I won’t say these guy aren’t talented. They do have a really fun show. I saw them live during their popularity prime in 2015 at Bonaroo. Super hype show.
Oh, but I DEFINITELY don’t put them out as the best hiphop show. Of the shows I’ve seen, I 100% put Wu-Tang Clan above them, Mob Deep, and even Pusha T…. I actually dislike Pusha T, but his life show actually shocked all of us… Didn’t expect it to be so wild or good. He’s very different live than on the CD. But my friend, trust me, go see Wu-Tang Clan if you haven’t… Their show is farrr better than RTJ. RTJ is super super hypce, and slightly demonic feeling… But I wouldn’t put them as the best hiphop act live… Top 50 sure, and that’s still really great. At the end of the day too though, rap isn’t the best music life. Rock music, funk, ect… I saw Earth Wind And Fire right after RTJ, and it just so happened Kendrick and Chance came out to freestyle with Earth Wind n Fire… It was killer! They are soo amazing live (earth wind and fire that is). Definitely Ana amazing feel good show!
I’ve seen Wu Tang 3 times and yes they put on a great live show, ESPECIALLY if Method Man is there lol he adds soo much to the live show. Saw Em once without Method still kicked ass. But my favorite and best live hip hop act IMO is Jurassic 5.. By far. Even over The Roots. I actually saw RTJ open for Wu Tang, I thought RTJ worked the crowd better but with how much Love and dedication I have towards Wu Tang (plus knowing ALL their shit made a huge difference as I wasn’t familiar with RTJ as a group yet) Wu Tang was a much better experience. Shit was only $5 too!!!
