Remy Ma is one of the fiercest rappers to ever come out of the Bronx, New York. The First Lady of Terror Squad has rapped on tracks with Big Pun, Fat Joe, JAY-Z and more and has always held her own.
When it comes to her female counterparts, however, Remy believes they’re too scared to jump on a song with her. During a recent visit to Big U’s Checc’n In podcast, the “All the Way Up” rapper spoke about how her pen game strikes fear into fellow MCs, which explains her lack of female collaborations.
“My pen really go,” she said. “They know. Nobody don’t play with me. Even guys. People call me and they’re like, ‘You need to do some features.’ No girl wants to be on a song with me. Especially if she up!
“She don’t want Remy Ma on a song. They know what’s gon’ happen and the same thing goes for guys. A guy don’t wanna call me to get on a song ’cause he knows what’s gonna happen! So, it’s cool. I’m alright with it.”
Remy Ma also discussed her six-year stint in prison after being convicted of assault, illegal weapon possession and attempted coercion in 2008. She admitted she spent time with people that didn’t have her best interests at heart leading up to her incarceration.
Having already proven she can rap her ass off, Remy Ma crossed over into the film space earlier this year when she made her acting debut in the BET+ film, American Gangster Presents: Big Fifty – The Delronda Hood Story. The Bronx native portrayed the real-life notorious Detroit queenpin Delrhonda Hood, with R&B singer Tank, Empire‘s Ta’Rhonda Jones and Raising Dion‘s Michael Anthony also starring.
It’s because she was never relevant and that music doesn’t care about lyricism anymore lol.
It’s not your pen..it’s that U can’t sell any records lol.
I agree with you 100000% she didn’t have much cross over appeal either. Lean back is what got her known and some other singles that were not at the level of Lean back. She has some lyric ability but that isn’t why people don’t work with her, it’s because she can’t make the companies money. I bet Papoose have felt the wrath of her black cloud, no one cares about him either
Ya bugged. Remy got hit n classic discography. She cap sometimes on state of culture. But her pen is crazy. N coild be even more if she didnt only have to talk bout what ey artist talk bout tha keep africns n hispanics oppressed
She always has promise but she has yet to put together an album that’s consistent. I like her style, she’s her own, she just gotta relax on radio attempts and do what comes to her for an entire album. With that said, Jean Grae went toe to toe with Black Thought, who is Dead or Alive status. I don’t think Remy can out rhyme Jean Grae.
