Pusha T is still on G.O.O.D. Music — for now. On Thursday (January 27), King Push sparked speculation about his status on the label by posting paperwork from the execution of a recording contract with Def Jam while thanking Kanye West in the caption.
“Some people call you their brother, other people show you you’re BROTHERS. Thanx ‘Yezos…’ @kanyewest,” Pusha wrote, handing Ye a new nickname inspired by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The portions of the contract shared by Pusha T didn’t make it clear what the deal means exactly, but that didn’t slow down the rumor mill, with theories suggesting the Virginia native had departed G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam or regained ownership of his masters.
Pusha’s cryptic Instagram post drew heavy praise from some of his Hip Hop compatriots in the comments section, with the likes of Jadakiss, The Game and Royce Da 5’9 lending their support.
“A win is a win,” Kiss wrote while The Game added, “As It’s Supposed to be!”
In response to the speculation, Pusha T’s manager Steven Victor spoke with Complex and clarified King Push is still signed to G.O.O.D. Music, but his upcoming album will fulfill his Def Jam contract.
“[He’s still with] G.O.O.D. Music, he’s just not signed to Def Jam anymore,” Victor confirmed. “This is his last album on Def Jam.”
According to Victor, Pusha isn’t ruling out a Def Jam reunion in the future, but his loyalty remains to Kanye West.
“I mean, we might re-sign with Def Jam, I’m just saying he fulfilled his contract obligation,” he said. “He might re-sign with Def Jam, it’s just the whole point of it is that he’s still with Kanye regardless to wherever he ends up with his next projects. It will be with Kanye.”
Victor also confirmed that Pusha T owns his masters, thanks to Ye.
Pusha T season looks to be returning very soon as he declared in an interview earlier this week that his DAYTONA follow-up — rumored to be titled It’s Not Dry Yet — will be the “motherfucking album of the year.” Kanye West and The Neptunes are reportedly producing the project in full.
In typical Pusha T fashion, the G.O.O.D. Music President set the project’s rollout in motion by posting a photo of singer Lana Del Rey with a mound of cocaine covering her face. He’s also teased snippets of coke-laced rhymes and hit the studio with the likes of Kanye, Fivio Foreign, A$AP Rocky, The Game and more.
Pusha T’s team did not immediately return HipHopDX‘s request for comment.
Just my opinion. No need for his fans to get mad. Pusha T is the most overrated rapper I’ve ever heard. And I mean in the sense that he says he’s the best, his albums are the album of the year blah blah blah and people take him seriously even if they disagree. I’ve never heard anything from him that would make me put him in any conversation at the top of the game. His voice and is corny to me. Like he’s narrating some Mystery Dinner Theater Play or something. His delivery is plain and average. And I don’t see no amount of punchlines making up for that. And those are never that great to me. I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s just me.
Yup. Its just you.
Yea it’s just you man lol
It’s not just you. I won’t say he’s trash, but he’s definitely not the best anything, not even in his category of rap.
I liked push when I was younger and he was still with re up gang. I don’t him as much now that he’s 45 and rapping about the same stuff 19 year olds are. You know he’s smarter than he pretends to be on wax
listen Drake has the worst voice plus he’s the most overrated rapper ever by far dude is ?️ it let’s you know how wack the audience ears has become when he’s leading the way lyrical Wise Drake can’t kiss pushas feet I agree his albums are hyped and never live up to it he was better at that when he was with his brother
And he called drake out for what again? The story of Addison would go so much harder if pusha wasn’t signed to 3 deals lol
He owns half the Arby’s commercial so W
I fuck with some of Drake’s music but i noticed whenever there’s Pusha T news you’ll find basement dwelling Drakesexual incels spamming “he only raps about drugs” or struggling to find some stupid angle to criticize him over. The truth is that these broke losers are more hurt by The Story of Addidon than Drake was. Pusha T put a tarnish on Drake’s career than cannot be removed. Get over it. It’s embarrassing.
Keep listening to 45 year olds talk about selling dope, no one cares what you do bro lol. But you do sound triggered NGL. You didn’t even reference pushas label situation? We call that hypocritical
So I’m guessing you want some music to snuggle to huh? Me personally I want to hear him talking some gangsta shit….. Go back to your emo rap and leave this shit to the real ones..
My last comment was NOT meant for Drakesexuals are annoying, it was for the other guy….I salute that name BTW, it’s true.
See the thing with “gangster rap” is that you’re either telling on yourself, telling on your friends or making it up. And the icing on cake is that it’s only entertainment. There is nothing real about anyone in the music industry g And you look lame going hard for rappers in the comment section.
