Mike Dean has helped craft some classic albums throughout his career, but he has one particular project that stands out above the rest – and it’s not from his longtime collaborator, Kanye West.
Taking to X on Wednesday (February 5), Mike wrote: “A WEEK LATER STILL THE BEST ALBUM I EVER MADE.”
The producer was referring to The Weeknd‘s newest album, Hurry Up Tomorrow – of which he mixed and mastered entirely as well as co-produced nearly all of the 24 songs.
Metro Boomin, who also has a few production credits on the LP, likely agrees, as he wrote on the day of the album’s release, “Mike Dean sitting high on that all time producer/composer list for sure.”

He also raved about the album, adding, “only this n-gga Abel could drop album of the year in January lmao.”

Released after a slight delay due to the recent L.A. wildfires, the 22-track (plus two bonus songs) musical odyssey serves as the final installment in The Weeknd’s trilogy following 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM (2022).

As for Mike Dean, he’s also working on Kanye West’s forthcoming BULLY album after a years-long fallout.
In a series of two posts to Instagram last month, Ye shared two different images from his legendary Life Of Pablo live premiere in 2016 – one featuring himself and Mike, and the other of himself and singer/songwriter (and cousin) Tony Williams.
Both were simply captioned “BULLY,” with the peeping eye emojis.
In 2022, Mike Dean distanced himself from Kanye West amid the latter’s numerous antisemitic rants.

In October of that year, No Jumper podcast host Adam22 shared his thoughts on Ye’s relationship with conservative pundit Candace Owens, and the esteemed producer was quick to agree with his take.
“Kanye spent 20 years building one of the biggest empires in music and fashion and threw it all away bc he wanted to repeat Candace Owens talking points on TV,” Adam wrote.
“Amen,” Mike replied.
Then in December, Mike was one of many who criticized Ye following his controversial appearance on Alex Jones’ InfoWars, where he praised Hitler and Nazis.

Resharing a message from Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello on his Instagram page, Mike made Kanye’s “Power” the soundtrack to his post in an apparent effort to make his intended audience clear.
Busta Rhymes and T.I. jumped into Dean’s comments section to give their stamp of approval, while fans reacted to the producer’s continued criticism of West.
“Damn no more Kanye & Mike Dean masterpieces in the future,” one fan wrote, to which Dean replied with a pair of crying emojis.

BULLY will serve as Ye’s first solo album since 2021’s Donda and the follow-up to his two Vultures LPs with Ty Dolla $ign which both arrived last year.
