Lupe Fiasco & AZ Announce Nas-Honoring Washington State Concert

Lupe Fiasco has often expressed his respect and admiration for the Hip Hop deity Nas and now he will pay homage to God’s Son live in concert alongside his Illmatic co-star AZ.

Fiasco took to Instagram on Thursday (June 27) to announce the show titled “Celebrating 25 Years Of Nas.”

The Chicago bred lyricist captioned the post, “This is #FirmFiasco in real life!!!!!!!!!!!!” confirming that he is performing The Album by The Firm in its entirety over his beats. AZ, who was a member of said Hip Hop supergroup and frequent Nas collaborator, also took to Instagram to promote the commemorative event.

Nas immediately impacted the rap scene in 1994 with his seminal album Illmatic. Since then, he received numerous accolades for his artistry, entrepreneurship, and longevity within the industry.

Esco is also set to embark on The Royalty Tour with Mary J. Blige in July.

Fiasco and AZ’s tribute will be at the ShoWare Center in Washington on August 17. Tickets for the concert can be purchased here.

      1. I’m with you on that. It would be so awesome to check it out. How dope if they could have the show streamed????

    1. Look man…I love Nas, as most of us do. But all these 25th anniversary concerts, and commemorating this and that, and symphonies performing Illmatic and all this BS is camouflaging the fact that Nas hasn’t made any dope music in a while. Stop resting on your laurels and get in the studio fam. We need to hear something that will make us forget about that terrible EP he made last year. He’s my favorite MC ever, but as an objective listener Im starting to wonder if he’s out of ammo. He seems like he doesn’t know what to rap about besides the expensive restaurants he eats at. Peace.

      1. Fire post. Nas is my favorite emcee as well but he needs to do more work. The EP wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either. 4 out of 7 tracks are good. I just wish he’d stick to his formula from Illamatic to Life Is Good. New rap isn’t a Nas fan’s cup’o joe.

    2. Unbelievable rappers are doing this while a rapper is still alive! This is big! Anyway, being a number 1 Nas fan he needs to stay away far away from this modern day so call rap shit! Kanye is a garbage producer as well as DJ Khaled. They are no Dr. Dre and Pete Rock period… Nas please get back in the studio with those guys and add AZ on some of those tracks man. We want to hear nothing but lyric flow bouncing off one another. That laser sharp shit from the 90’s. No Jay Z, No Rock Ross, No Kanye and definitely no damn DJ Khaled or Future!!! Those shits make my ears bleed! Seriously!

    3. I love that NAS has been able to do victory laps at this stage…that’s REALMATIC!!! I love it even better that distinguished emcees like Lupe have the humbleness it takes to praise another instead of beef. I am not a Kendrick fan-at all. I am a J. Cole and Lupe fan and NAS was my intro to precision though-provoking rap. Nas carried that cross and I am glad they respect it. People worried about what NAS has done lately is irrelevant. We are celebrating history.
