For reasons probably even unknown to them, Nas and Lupe Fiasco have never recorded a track together.
Luckily for fans who have been patiently waiting for such a song to materialize, the day may be near.
On Wednesday (May 1), industry maven Sky Gellatly uploaded an Instagram photo of both renown lyricists posted up inside the Mass Appeal studio. While no official announcement has been made regarding any sort of musical output, the picture, as they say, is worth a thousand words.
The excitement-inducing photo-op was actually the Queensbridge and Chicago legends’ second run-in with one another in for the week. On Monday (April 29), they both attended non-profit organization City Harvest’s annual gala, which raised $4.1 million for the city’s starving population.

“He taught me a lot. Gave me half my name and still…@Nas,” Lupe tweeted of their encounter. Nas, also returned the favor, praising the Drogas Wave creator for his humanitarian spirit writing, “At @cityharvestnyc gala helping our fellow man, woman and child. Great to see my guy @lupefiasco here as well !!.”
Lupe’s affinity for Nas’ craft has been well documented unto this point. Last year, he told the world Nas was secured in his Top 3 rapper dead or alive list and has repeatedly named It Was Written (Nas’ sophomore album from 1996) as his favorite Hip Hop album of all time and template for creating his own debut album, 2006’s Food & Liquor.
