Lil Uzi Vert has “replaced” Meek Mill as the Philadelphia Eagles’ new anthem artist, according to DJ Drama’s.

On Wednesday (February 1), TMZ caught up with the Gangsta Grillz DJ at an airport, where he crowned Uzi the Eagles’ new go-to artist ahead of their Super Bowl LVII showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 12.

Baby Pluto walked the team out during their NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers last weekend, with his hit single “Just Wanna Rock” blasting through Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. The Eagles cruised to a 37-1 victory to clinch their fourth Super Bowl berth in franchise history.

“I think it’s fair to say that ‘I Just Wanna Rock’ has replaced — with all due respect — ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ as the new anthem of Philadelphia, as the new anthem of the Philadelphia Eagles this year,” Drama stated. “I’m looking forward to hearing that song many, many times [throughout] Super Bowl weekend.”

The Philadelphia Eagles used Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” as their anthem for their improbable Super Bowl LII championship run in 2018. After their win, NBCSports Philadelphia declared it “the greatest Philly sports anthem ever.”

The record itself is the opener on Meek’s debut album of the same name, which dropped in 2012. It was a breakaway hit for the MMG rapper, earning platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) while going down as what many consider one of the best Hip Hop intros of all time.

“Dreams and Nightmares” has an 11-year head start on “Just Wanna Rock,” but Uzi’s Jersey Club-inspired single is quickly picking up steam as well. The song is a TikTok staple with over 500 million views on the platform and recently climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 after 15 weeks on the chart.

Regardless, “Dreams and Nightmares” remains a mainstay in the city of Brotherly Love. Following the Eagles’ victory last weekend, the song played throughout the postgame celebrations inside the stadium and could be heard blaring through the city’s streets.

Meek Mill was so excited about his team securing their spot in the Super Bowl that he offered to host a free party somewhere in the city and perform “Dreams and Nightmares.”

Meanwhile, DJ Drama — a fellow Philly native — lifted his own silverware last year by winning DJ of the Year at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards thanks to his resurgent Gangsta Grillz series.
