Lil Nas X has provenly repeatedly he knows how to rile up his millions of social media followers, often using his off-color brand of humor to deflect controversy.
On Friday (October 1), the Grammy Award-winning artist, who’s built a career on being openly gay and proud of it, jokingly suggested to his 7.2 million Twitter followers his gay days were over. But some assumed he was bisexual or potentially not even gay at all.
“This gay shit was fun at first,” he wrote. “I miss pussy now.”
Another openly gay artist, BROCKHAMPTON’s Kevin Abstract, played along and commented, “Pussy fire bro.”
Lil Nas X then walked back his initial tweet, saying, “nevermind he called back.” According to TMZ, the “he” in the equation is likely dancer Yai Ariza who appeared in the “That’s What I Want” video as the rapper’s love interest.
The two started dating recently but already broke up. However, Lil Nas X has hinted there’s a chance they could reconcile.
Lil Nas X’s sexuality has been near-constant internet fodder since he came out in 2019. The “Old Town Road” breakout star has since fully embraced his identity, upsetting some people along the way.
More recently, his video for “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” had Christian conservatives and members of the church clutching their proverbial pearls due to the visual’s Satanic imagery and overt sexuality.
In one scene, Lil Nas X grinds on top of Satan’s lap wearing nothing but a pair of tiny black booty shorts and thigh high leather boots, drawing the ire of conservative commentator Candace Owens, Pastor Mark Burns and Grammy Award-winning Christian singer Kaya Jones.
Even Joyner Lucas had a few things to say about the 21-year-old artist’s visual art.
“I think the biggest problem for me is the fact he don’t understand ‘old town road’ is every kids anthem,” Joyner wrote in a since-deleted post. “Children love him for that record. They tuned in and subscribed to his channels. So with no disclaimer he just dropped some left field ish & all our kids seen it. Smh.”
Despite the controversy, “MONTERO” won Video of the Year at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards in September. His debut album of the same name debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, right behind Drake’s Certified Lover Boy.
He’s getting back on the right track after misleading the youth with his gay ish… hypocrit motherfucker!
I feel there may be a bit of truth to that. There are a lot of het black men playing homosexual or pretending to be homosexual because society doesn’t really find het black men interesting any more.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Lil Nas X wasn’t actually homosexual at all ??♂️
shut the hell up. screw you and your public relations stunt.
Dope af
Realistically speaking, looking at statistics in the greater population, there is definitely more gay and bi rappers in hiphop who are probably closeted, this dude isn’t the first and won’t be last. I guess it’s his antics that annoy people so much.
Are you insinuating that in the greater population there are more gay people than heterosexual people??
How did I insinuate that dummy?? I never said there was more gays in the world that straight people dumbass. Learn to read fool. I said that judging by the ratio of gay people in the world there is definitely more gay people in the hiphop community on the dl or otherwise just than Lil Nas X. Understand now dummy? Simplified enough for you?
Calm the fuck down granma! It was a simple question not a malicious one!
Apologies, I may have overreacted a little lol
funny shit LOL!
In my hood one of the big homies is gay and well respected. But he ain’t in your face typa feminine gay like this guy, there’s a difference
So it’s ok to be gay as long as you don’t “act” too gay and make all the snowflakes around you uncomfortable? ???
Guess what, there are gay people everywhere. It’s interesting when I read the homophobic comments on these stories, the disconnect between a historically discriminated group (black people) being so ready and willing to discriminate against another group of people (gay people.)
If you don’t want people discriminating against you, don’t do it to them. Easy.
It is ok to be gay.. But when you’re a talentless prick who has to troll in order to sell records and you say ” fuck them kids ” when your main audience are kids and young adults and you try to put an influence on them than yes it is uncomfortable and disgraceful to straight and gay people alike.
Everybody’s just jealous cuz he’s making money and they aren’t.
Oh word? In my suburbs, one of my neighbors is black, but he speaks proper English and doesn’t dress like a clown, there’s a difference!
All gimmicks from this Queen. This experiment won’t end well
Tell me you ain’t a musician without telling me you ain’t a musician….
You obviously listen to it a lot. Since, it’s important enough for you to complain about
Lil Nas X isn’t gay. It’s a ploy. He is an implant. Hip hop is fake
Hes fucking gay end of story. Youre gay “Nas” get over it. Stop using your sexuality for controversy and spit bars pussy
It makes $$$. Don’t be jealous
I guess those album sales aren’t going as well as he had hoped.. This guy is reaching.. or is he tired of giving reach arounds to label execs?!? No one cares about his sexuality. Do something with the music that way it will speak for itself. This talentless shithead must be on the last bit of his 5 mins of fame. Nothing but a talentless troll
You guessed wrong. LOL. “If Drake hadn’t dropped an album, Lil Nas X would likely have debuted at Number One with Montero, which earned 21,600 sales, more than 25,000 song downloads, and over 125 million streams.” Nice try though.
That’s funny. why is no one talking about lil nas x album?? All I ever hear about this troll is how hes gay or he has a boyfriend or in this case now hes bi. Why is that? You ever heard of labels buying streams and albums? Lol Where is he at on the charts now? By the way Drake dropped a week or 2 before this troll. Sooo NICE TRY
She’s propped up by the labels and still couldn’t outsell drake who dropped weeks before. You’re a clown. NBA young boy just sold more in the first week than this lab created pop queen.
anyone here know his record company any contacts?
Columbia Records contact: (212) 833-8000
This today ain’t hiphop; it’s flipflop!!! Lol
He actually never claimed that his music was hip hop. Even in one of his songs he says that he is a pop star. Just because he is a black male, people feel that he has to fit a certain stereotype and make a certain type of music. We are in a new era, let musicians do something different and unique. At least he’s making more money than you. And the more people complain, the more you put him in the spotlight, so he could actually thank you for increasing his Fame! Smart business moves. Entertaining is a business. And it’s not just about music, it’s about entertainment. I’m pretty entertained by it.
