Kid Cudi has kicked producer Mike Dean off the lineup of his upcoming Moon Man’s Landing Festival. On Wednesday (August 3), Dean shared a statement to both his Instagram and Twitter account that read, “Looks like I won’t be playing moon man’s landing this year. Someone cancelled me. Lol. Thanks. That’s all. #immature.”
After a fan asked if he was “cancel culture canceled,” Dean replied, “lol. No one can cancel me like that! Just some baby kid baby shit.”
When reached for comment by HipHopDX, Dean confirmed Kid Cudi dropped him from the festival, saying, “I don’t care. I’m doing stadiums this weekend.”
Mike Dean, who has produced for Kanye West, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi and a roster of others, is currently on the road with The Weeknd as part of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour.
On Thursday (August 4), Dean and The Weeknd head to Tampa, Florida for a show at the Raymond James Stadium before heading to Miami on Saturday (August 6).
Meanwhile, Cudi’s Moon Man’s Landing Festival is scheduled for September 17 in Cleveland, Ohio, with Cudi, Playboi Carti, Pusha T, Don Toliver, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Strick and more on the lineup.
While Dean didn’t explain exactly what led to his removal, the friction between the former Kids See Ghosts collaborators has been palpable for some time now. In April, Kid Cudi announced via Twitter he won’t be working with Kanye going forward. His tweet came after the tracklist for Pusha T’s new album It’s Almost Dry surfaced online, showing a Cudi and Kanye collaboration called “Rock N Roll.”
“Hey! So I know some of you heard about the song I got w Pusha,” he wrote. “I did this song a year ago when I was still cool w Kanye. I am not cool w that man. He’s not my friend and I only cleared the song for Pusha cuz thats my guy. This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye -Scott.”
More recently, Kanye dropped out of the Rolling Loud Miami festival at the last minute and was replaced by Cudi. Ye didn’t offer an explanation for the cancelation and ended up performing at the festival anyway, coming out in the middle of Lil Durk’s set.
Dean’s tweet caused both Kid Cudi and Mike Dean to trend on Twitter with many wondering if they were officially “beefing.” Check out a few of the reactions below.
Mike Dean is like 60 years old, yet he chooses to wear childish hats like that. Also he partakes in childish hiphop culture. Very sad.
You are probably 22 years old, yet you are still sitting around on your computer hating all day in between door dash deliveries. You better ask someone about MD, he’s the man and you look like the child.
So what he’s made some music for decades? Doesn’t remove the fact that he is 60 years old and adores black thug culture, wears stupid ass hats that only a kid should wear and all that childish crap.
Yeah you clearly don’t know Mike’s background from RAP-A-LOT to Dre etc… The hat represents his company , you’re clearly an Akademiks commenter.
Got kicked off by a man who wears a dress smh…
Fraud.
Kid Cudi is puuuuusssyy
Someone get this kid his medication.
Mike Dean is a typical self-hating white cuckold, just like Eminem.
