Hip Hop was heavily present at Madison Square Garden yesterday (January 18), as fans showed up to celebrate Yams Day, an annual musical celebration held to honor the late A$AP Yams.
The concert, which went down on the second anniversary of Yams’ death, boasted expected appearances from those in his A$AP Mob crew, but also featured a handful of surprises.
TDE was in the house as both ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar put on for the crowd. Q dived into his Blank Face LP track “Dope Dealer,” while K-Dot got the audience hype as he performed “m.A.A.d city.”
Although it was very much a Hip Hop affair during the Yams Day concert, Canadian crooner The Weeknd did hit the stage for a brief performance of “Low Life.”
The evening provided even more surprises as French Montana graced the stage for a version of “Pop That.”
Watch additional video footage from Yams Day, including Tyler, The Creator’s performance and A$AP Ferg paying tribute to the late A$AP Mob member below.
So it’s a like a symbolical circle jerk over his dead body on stage.
Damn Bro, that could be interpreted as u being a jerk…. and Yes..
No disrespect, I’m obviously uninformed. But what did Yams do that has everyone celebrating and still mourning his death a year ago or whenever it was? Like things he did that everyone is saying changed the rap game or whatever. I’m clueless.
Hes the reason why artists like ASAP Rocky ASAP FERG and the whole ASAP crew have a platform to showcase their talent. He believed in them and organized alot of the opportunities within the rap game. He had alot of connection within the rap game and was also respected by Diddy early on in his Career. Theres much more, but i’m at work lol
RIP YAM$
Ohh and he started the ASAP movement. Forgot to mention that!
To my understanding he was basically the manager of ASAP MOB. Not only that but he was a good friend to the crew, so just like STEEZ day the musicians and the Fans ride the wave that these guys helped make.
RIP YAMS —— LONG LIVE STEELO
Why would celebrating a dead guy bother u.
