Kanye West Slows Down “WAVES” Hype

Kanye West slowed down the hype for his forthcoming WAVES album yesterday (February 2).

West took to Twitter to amend a claim that WAVES is “the best album of all time,” which he stated when he released the original tracklist for the project, formerly known as SWISH.

“Out of respect for Q-Tip, Puff, Hov, Lauren, Pharcyde, Mary, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, James, Pete Rock, Pac, Marvin….” West writes in a series of tweets, “this new album is ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest just one of … So many musicians touch my life and made me who I am… I want to make something great to honor my idols…”

West has already released the singles “Real Friends” with Ty Dolla $ign and “No More Parties in L.A.” with Kendrick Lamar.

Reported features on WAVES include Chance the Rapper, Kirk Franklin and Andre 3000.

WAVES is set to release February 11.

    1. Victoria Hernandez, it really gets to me when people misquote, and I believe that’s what you did. I think, not know, the quote from Kanye was “album of the life”. You have it quoted as “the best album of all time”. That’s a pretty big difference. His quote has all kind of room for interpretation (his life, this generation, of all time) while your misquote has zero room for such. Very, very irresponsible to put words in other people’s mouths. This is exactly why stories change meaning and purpose when relayed from one to another. And as a journalist, it’s potentially even more dangerous due to the volume of people reading/listening.

      1. Excellent interpretation and call for clarity Don. I too concur with your views and how eloquently put they were. The so called “journalist” on this site really do a poor job of translation when it comes to surmising quotes. I believe it’s all done in poor taste and rush just to move on the the next excerpt., to naturally draw more views and clicks. Shameful on the poor literary work of this site. Seems as if only uninspired and unintelligent people write for this medium
