Joey Badass Calls Out Poaching Rappers While Giving 2022 Album Release Date Update

Joey Bada$$’s last album ALL-AMERIKKAN BADASS came in 2017, and since then, the Pro Era leader has been way too busy with other endeavors like his growing acting career to put all his focus back into the music. Fans have been yearning for new tunes from Joey, and it seems like the wait could be over really soon.

The Brooklyn rap star recently held an Instagram Live Q&A session where he chopped it up with fans and addressed any burning questions people may have had. One of the most asked questions by fans was the status of Joey’s next studio album, which he said is definitely arriving in 2022.

“Shit, the album dropping this year for sure,” Joey Badass said during the livestream. “I ain’t going to say exactly when, though, because there’s certain rappers who be on my heels, so Ima just… it’s coming though.”

There’s no other information regarding Joey’s next album, but fans hope he can pick up the reins from ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADASS. That project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, moving 51,000 album-equivalent units, and 28,000 of those copies were pure album sales.

Joey Bada$$ Reveals His New Album Is 85% Done After Finishing It 3 Times

Joey Bada$$ dropped an appetizer for fans in the form of his three-song bundle, The Light Pack, in Summer 2020, and in September of that year, he jumped on Twitter to give fans an update on his next album.

“My album fire,” he wrote. “85% done w. See y’all soon. I finished this album like 3 times but I promise this the last time… hopefully.”

    1. Who is this guy again. A$AP Scott or something? Who cares. Wait ain’t this the guy that made a gay movie with Diddy and won an award for it? Stick to making gay movies lol

    2. As long as it’s better than that Amerikkkan shit…damn a billboard that shit was horrible and I fuk wit dude…debut album was fire( if u haven’t, check for him on Power Book III…he killin’ that shit)

    3. This generation of NYC MCs are now known for gay ass dancing, fake ass drill garbage rappers, and snitches or all of the above. It went from the Sugar Hill Gang, To Run DMC, to Kool G Rap, to 50 Cent, to SnitchNine, To Pop Smoke Cline’s after his death, To everybody snitching on each other to stay out of prison. The Game ain’t been the same since…smh.

    4. So 51,000 “album equilivant” sales gets you # 5 on billboard ? The streaming era is such a joke. Billboard is like a relic from a bygone era. In the CD era when physical sales mattered, 51,000 would be a total fail. Do the math. 51,000 x 15 ($15 per CD) comes out to $765,000. And thats retail. The record company would have to sell the CDs to the stores for less so they could make a profit. Whats a digital album cost anyways ? Like $8-9 ? Do the math again. 51,000 x 9 ($9 digital download) = $459, 000 that the record company would make. I dont see how a record company can afford to give a rapper millions in advance pay to make a lousy half a million the first week and even less every week after. It defies logic. Thats why I always call these racks you see in rap videos prop money. Theres no way it could possibly be real. Fucking stock investors dont even make that kinda money they balance on their shoulder in some of these photoshoots.
