Jeezy Explains Why People May Not Understand Lil Wayne’s Perspective On Black Lives Matter

During an interview with Hot 97‘s “Nessa on Air,” Jeezy stopped short of coming to Lil Wayne’s defense over controversial comments he made about the Black Lives Matter movement, but The Snowman did explain why “people just might not understand” Weezy’s perspective.

According to Jeezy, Wayne has been rich and “living on his own island” for quite some time and may not be able to see the everyday situations that are clearly visible to so many others.

“Everybody has they opinion, but at the same time people just might not understand,” Jeezy said. “And I’m not definitely coming to his defense because he is an adult. He understands what he’s doing. But people have to understand he’s been a superstar so long. Since he was a child. I grew up on him.

“So, it’s just like he might not be connected on that level,” he added. “Because it is difficult. Because he’s been rich for a long time. And he’s been living on his own island for a long time. And maybe it’s something he just don’t see. I’m glad that I’m able to see that. Because I still deal with people every day.”

During a newly-released interview with “Dateline,” Lil Wayne explained that he felt no connection with the Black Lives Matter movement. The rapper has since revealed that he was agitated during the interview due to a question asked about his daughter. He also offered his “Apologies to anyone who was offended.”

Continuing to speak with Hot 97, Jeezy later went on to reveal that while a joint album with Jay Z isn’t in the works at the moment, such a project is very much a possibility.

“Me and Hov, we talk all the time,” the Southern spitter said. “Whether it’s via text or it’s hollering…I feel like the relationship we do have isn’t even based on music. What we talk about is real life stuff…To me, it’s just one of those situations where respect is mutual. And it’s just like we walk that same path…As far as us making an album, I will always be for that. Because some of his best verses that I’ve heard, he’s given me.”

    1. 1) When Wayne shot himself as a child, a white police officer picked him up, carried him from his apartment and drove him to the hospital instead of taking a chance with him dying while waiting for an ambulance. 2) He has dealt with police, accounted for his own actions, did his time. 3) He has had a recording contract since he was 9 years old, his life has been isolated. 4) We are all entitled to our own opinion.

    2. I love how when a black man says he didn’t experience racism, it’s somehow a negative thing. Isn’t that what we’re shooting for here, dude got blasted for not experiencing racism. Newsflash, if a black man can make it 30 years without experiencing racism…thats a good thing. I also love how Jeezy gives him the excuse of being rich a not understanding, why is that not the case for white people? White people are told all the time that they don’t know shit about the black community’s problems, but its never “ahh they just don’t understand”…this shit is laughable

      1. He’s from Louisiana he’s experienced it don’t believe the hype. Especially if he’s a so called blood.. He’s from the projects so that’s a lie…

    3. It’s not about not experiencing racism but it’s about him not caring about the people who do. And if everybody took the selfish mentality he displayed, no racial barriers would have been broken. People wouldn’t have fought and died for a cause bigger than themselves that would even allow him to have the voice to get up and even speak on the platform he has. He showed no compassion for what black people go through every day in the real world.

      1. Ok john, where in his statements did he say he does not care about other blacks that experience racism? What you dont understand is that BLM is used as a political leverage to deviate from the real issue, which is police brutality, stemming from institutionalized lethal policing and deadly rules of engagement. Why should a police man shoot at someone for not complying when he can use stun guns and other less lethal weapons? If u ask me, I don’t think those policemen that killed unarmed black men are racists; they just suffer from poor judgment at critical times and the judicial system is not any better. It is an institutionalized problem and wayne or 1000 Michael Jackson cannot solve it. Obama, with all his zeal and passion coundnt either. It can only be solved politically. But then, you need the people; although majority of Americans dont feel connected. They are just scared to say their mind. For BLM to succeed, everybody has to feel connected to its vision. Unfortunately, BLM is not. That doesn’t mean black lives dont matter. Even dog lives matter these days. Thanks to PETA. But we shouldn’t tow the same say as PETA with BLM, because we are human beings FIRST!

    4. we should all maintain a diet lean and 48 blunts a day because obviously the world is a better place when you’re stoned to death

    5. Soooo when you’re black and rich you dont have to worry about the things that come with and its none of your business…. Hmmmm ok…. Fyi OJ Simpson perfect example on this situation my rich black brothas

    6. “But people have to understand he’s been a superstar so long. Since he was a child. I grew up on him.”

      Lil wayne – born 1982
      Jeezy – born 1977

      DA FUQ U SAY N@gga?

      1. You really don’t understand what he’s saying? Lil Wayne first signed a record deal at 9 years old and had sides with the Hot Boys at age 14.

    7. See he’s one of the hundreds of thousands of black people who have been rich for so long that he doesn’t realize that white people are keeping all black people from being rich and successful…

    8. Oh if Lil Wayne has for gotton he is black this country will give him his jigga wake up call they all got one first was OJ Simpson then Michael Jackson , Stick around Lil Wayne you worthless Uncle Tom its coming real soon!

    9. I don’t why people pay attention to Wayne dope headed ass. Just saw a video of him screaming black lives matter at a performance not too long ago. Now all of sudden he’s clueless to the BLM movement. Yeah. Ok. I guess he’s back to being a Crip now that he ain’t fooling with Baby no more. Dude, been a fraud to me.

    10. Black Lives Matter is not the Black Panthers, the Nation of Islam, nor the Civil Rights Movement. They have accomplished nothing except a hashtag. People feel connected to change, not on a mission statement. Besides having people talk about racism, this movement has done nothing to help us. Maybe I need to listen to the context of how Lil Wayne made statement, but I don’t disagree with his point. However, sometimes it’s better to say nothing than make a controversial statement.

      1. thats on point, its a missionary n therefore fake bs, well said (what this BLM has created besides a hashtag is new race problems)

        1. What they have done is bring awareness to the problems that have been around for so long and swept under the rug. The problem with people today is that we look at those other groups with the eyes of today and not with the eyes of the people living in that era. Back then people were saying the same things about those groups being problematic. Many people didn’t think MLK was a great man, they wanted less talk, less marching and more action (enter Malcolm X). But today we see how great he truly was. We won’t know the effect of BLM until 10, 20, 30 years from now and can reflect. Sorry for the long post but I hate when people act like figures of the past were always seen as great and the ones of today are useless.

    11. who is J-J-J-eezy anyways, hes abusing someone elses nick (Y-Y-Y-eezy), acting as other ppls friends would be his own (HOV) and keeps talking about other ppls money which he seems to be jealous of. these people dont understand, that some ppl have money because they have worked for it, while they on their own do nothing but talking about others and trying to get a hand on other ppls money by copying other ppls lifes. im sick to see this clown in the news
