Jamie Foxx has taken aim at some “fake friends” and their “fake love” in a new cryptic message amid his ongoing health woes.

On Friday (August 4), Foxx took to Twitter, where he called out fake supporters just weeks after resurfacing following his highly publicized medical emergency that left him hospitalized, earlier this year.

“THEY KILLED THIS DUDE NAMED JESUS…WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY’LL DO TO YOU???!” Foxx, 55, shared via Instagram, followed by “#FakeFriends #FakeLove.”

While it’s unclear who Foxx is referring to, rumor has it there was an “insider” who was supposedly leaking incorrect info about his condition to the press.

Unfortunately for Foxx, the post was quickly met with criticism from some in the Jewish community who took offense over the comparison of Foxx’s circumstances and Jesus’ persecution, resulting in the actor issuing a quick apology.

“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post,” he wrote on Instagram. “I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”

He continued: “To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with “they” not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended [heart emoji].”

“Nothing but love always, Jamie Foxx [heart, fox, praying hands emoji],” he signed off his post.

The post comes shortly after Foxx took to the same platform a couple of weeks ago to update fans on his health.

“First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody that just prayed man, and sent me messages,” he began. “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back.

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that man … I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through. […] I went to hell and back [and] my road to recovery had some potholes as well.”

Further, Foxx credited his sister and his daughter, Corrine Foxx, for “saving his life,” and again thanked his fans, friends, and family for their continued support as he worked his way back to good health.

He also addressed some persistent rumors about the state of his well-being — specifically, that the undisclosed medical complication had cost him his vision, and left him paralyzed. “Some people said I was blind, but as you can see, the eyes are working just fine,” he said while crossing his eyes in jest, and adding that he wasn’t paralyzed, either.
