Jamie Foxx has finally addressed the persistent rumors that have been swirling around since he suffered a medical complication back in April that temporarily derailed his career.

In an Instagram video posted on his official account on Friday (June 21), the Oscar-winning actor, comedian, and singer thanked his fans for their unwavering support.

“First of all, I want to say thank you to everybody that just prayed man, and sent me messages,” he began. “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back.

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that man … I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through. […] I went to hell and back [and] my road to recovery had some potholes as well.”

Foxx credited his sister and his daughter, Corrine Foxx, for “saving his life,” and again thanked his fans, friends, and family for their continued support as he worked his way back to health.

He also addressed some of the persistent rumors about his health — specifically, that the undisclosed medical complication had left him without his vision, and paralyzed. “Some people said I was blind, but as you can see, the eyes are working just fine,” he said while crossing his eyes in jest, and adding that he wasn’t paralyzed, either.

Last month, Foxx and his team confirmed that he did not suffer a “vaccine injury” from COVID-19. In that same written statement, Foxx’s team also confirmed that claims about Jamie Foxx being “partially paralyzed and blind” were fundamentally false.

That claim, which went viral on social media, was originally started by far-right provocateur Charlie Kirk, and amplified when gossip columnist A.J. Benza and Dr. Drew Pinksy talked about it on an episode of Benza’s podcast.

Benza claimed that he had a source “in the room” with Foxx when he was supposedly forced to get the COVID vaccine, after which he allegedly had a stroke due to a blood clot.

On July 13, Jamie Foxx also shut down rumors of his alleged “cloning” in an Instagram comment supposedly left on a Shade Room post, where the multi-hyphenate dismissed reports of his less-than-stellar status while also cleverly plugging his new Netflix film.

“They didn’t clone me but THEY CLONED TYRONE,” he wrote, referring to his new dark satirical comedy that also stars John Boyega and Kiefer Sutherland.
