J. Cole Expected To Score Another #1 Album With “4 Your Eyez Only”

    J. Cole is expected to land at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart with his fourth LP, 4 Your Eyez Only, according to a Hits Daily Double report shared just a day after the project’s release.

The North Carolina rapper is expected to push up to 500,000 units of 4 Your Eyez Only, going gold in one week. The publication says the pre-orders for the somewhat surprise release were “blockbuster” while stream count was also very high.

This would make all four of Cole’s albums reach the top position on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. His debut LP, 2011’s Cole World: The Sideline Story, took the crown upon its release. Last year’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive did the same feat while 2013’s Born Sinner rose to the position in its third week after debuting at #2 behind Kanye West’s Yeezus.

2014 Forest Hills Drive is now double platinum with no features and was the first album to be certified with one million sales units without a guest appearance in 25 years. 4 Your Eyez Only also lists no features on the 10-song tracklist, which gives Cole a chance to reach the mark with two albums in a row.

      1. The definition of just being smarter than most of the dumb shit out right now? He’s good for sure, but his bars aren’t crazy and only like half the album is worth listening to more than twice (always give tracks a second chance). And he’s not much smarter, just smart enough to point out he doesn’t belong with the nonsense. Rhyme schemes aren’t great, just good enough to separate himself from the wack, and his content isn’t that deep, just deep enough though. He’d be just another guy in the late 90s-early 2000s.

        1. No one wants to see hear “crazy” lyrics anymore, overly hard lyrics for the sake of overly hard lyrics, anyone can pick up a thesaurus and write elaborate rhyme schemes, that shit corny.

Numbers speak tho, 550k with 1 week of marketing, no singles, THE REAL IS BACK

          1. Nobody wants to hear crazy lyrics anymore… SMH. Note that you focused on the rhyme scheme part but ignored the deep part of my comment. Probably because you know it’s true. Tupac wasn’t the most creative with the lyrics but remains a great because he was deep and his tracks made you feel something. This album feels like a poor Lupe/Kendrick hybrid.

            To Stl… Lol

            1. Says you, numbers are proving otherwise, that this man resonates with people in ways Pac couldn’t even himself. Pac had to sell himself as a thug when he was doing fuckin ballet and was a standup guy himself, because the culture was still fetishizing thug life back then, as now it fetishizes lil whatevers with colored macaroni hairdos and mumble raps.

As for the deep part, depth is relative. Ab-Soul’s Control System was a very deep album you would say I assume, but it just doesn’t connect with the masses. Pac was not deeper than J Cole either, infact Kendrick is deeper than Pac, it’s about resonating with the masses though. Lupe/Kendrick fly over most people’s heads, and I love em both still.

            2. You’re here commenting on Pac 20 years after he died when this topic in no way relates to him, so I think his impact speacks for itself.

            3. Pac not deeper than Cole? You’re out of your mind. Pac had the thug hits but also the socially conscious ones. Not just good songs on albums, but radio hits that spoke to the issues of the time which still continue today. How many Changes, dear mama’s, thugz mansions does j Cole have? Show me the verse that can compete with the first on Changes. You can’t. See his creativity and wordplay may be slightly better than pac, but pacs simple lyrics cut so much deeper than Cole. And Cole’s creativity with words is so far below the greats, so he falls somewhere in the middle of the pack in the grand scheme of hip hop. Not that deep, not that creative, just above average in both areas. Has not made and probably will not make the type of hits that make an artist memorable either. He’s good, that’s all. Not great, just good.

    1. Bottom line he a top tier rapper he behind the 6god for the new new other then that he pushing real numbers not like the rest these bums with a feature on every track. He can carry an album that is classic material!

    2. Butthurt bisexual Drake stans are on suicide watch lol. Cole didn’t have to sell out and make queer dance tracks and have 80 features and 17 ghost writers to make a solid, cohesive, thoughtful, soulful, commercially successful album. J Cole is HIP-HOP. Drake is a pop star with a mostly beta male cuckboy fanbase, besides the females. I expect these lames to lash out. Truth hurts LMAO.

      1. Butthurt new age Kanye stans are the worst, fuckin scust. Their favorite all-time album is Yeezus, these people are cancer to hip hop and are irrelevant outside of KTT forums, yet they walk around saying Cole is horrible.

Their favorite rapper selling wood next album lol, Kanye is a favorite of mine but cannot reach the masses anymore.

Drake is a music industry machine and he is still good for hip hop, for every 10 fans he draws into his music, probably 1 or 2 will grow to love hip hop and pick up other artists to listen to eventually, like Cole, Kendrick, Logic, etc…

    3. @Chill Brodie, plenty of people want to hear high level lyricism. Of course there are more low IQ people than high IQ people, and corporations watered down hip-hop, but the real fans are still around. J Cole is dope though. Not in an Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, 3000 type of way, but raw nonetheless.

    4. They don’t mention Kevin gates going double platinum with no features. He doesn’t have the machine pushing him either.

    5. I don’t know how accurate these numbers are….. sounds a little bit inflated but aye I’m all for it if it’s correct.

      1. Not exactly inflated. He has a lot of hype with his album going double plat at the start of the year, the joint album speculation, the retirement shit, the diss tracks and all that. At the same time though 500k is a lot. Especially this year.

    6. Just when you thought JAY Z was sleeping. He’s got the whole NATION ROC’N still behind the scenes
! ROCNATION/DREAMVILLE the real is back!
