Kanye West Claims Quentin Tarantino Stole Idea For ‘Django Unchained’ From Him

Kanye West has claimed he was the mastermind behind Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

During a recent interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ye said he pitched the idea for the 2012 film to Jamie Foxx and the legendary director because he wanted it to be the premise of his video for 2005’s “Gold Digger” before it eventually turned into the acclaimed movie.

“Tarantino can write a movie about slavery where — actually him and Jamie [Foxx] they got the idea from me because the idea for Django, I pitched to Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as the video for ‘Gold Digger.’ And then Tarantino turned it into a film,” he explained.

Ye didn’t expand further on the alleged theft, but made the point when speaking about how free speech exists with context and made the comparison to Leonard DiCaprio using racial slurs in the film but not being deemed a racist.

Kanye’s “Gold Digger” music video ended up resembling nothing close to the plot of Django Unchained as the Hype Williams-directed visual boasted various pin-up girls posing for fictitious magazine covers.

The YouTube version of the clip has racked up over 315 million YouTube views, while the Jamie Foxx-assisted track took home Best Rap Solo Performance at the 2006 Grammy Awards.

Django Unchained hit theaters on Christmas Day in 2012 and grossed over $425 million worldwide at the box office against its $100 million budget, becoming Quentin Tarantino’s most commercially successful film.

Jamie Foxx starred in the slavery-themed blockbuster alongside Leonard DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington and more.

Kanye West Loses Balenciaga Deal Following Anti-Semitism Controversy

Kanye West touched upon numerous topics in his interview with Piers Morgan, which saw him also apologize for his anti-Semitic remarks.

“I will say I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the Death Con,” he said. “I feel like I caused hurt and confusion and I’m sorry for the families of the people that had nothing to do with the trauma that I’d been through. And I used my platform where you say, ‘Hurt people, hurt people.’ And I was hurt.

“I wanna say that it’s wrong to hold an apology hostage and I gotta let go of that and free myself of the trauma and say, ‘Look, I’m just gonna give it all up to God right now. And say to those families that are hurt I really wanna give you guys a big hug and I say I’m sorry for hurting you with my comments.”

    1. Only Quentin offered the roll to Will Smith before Foxx came on board. Smith said he would only do the movie if he could be the one to kill DiCaprio’s character. The role then went to Foxx. Poor Ye is off of his meds again. He should just work on music and shut up. His beats are dope.
