Westside Gunn has been keeping a pretty low profile while his Griselda brothers Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine have put out music over the last few months. While he watches his crew get busy, the Flygod is cooking up some work of his own with help from A$AP Rocky.
On Wednesday (April 13), Westside Gunn took to his Instagram with a post showing himself and Lord Pretty Flacko linking up at his home and getting some work done. The slideshow shows the Griselda general and the A$AP Mob boss posing for pictures before Rocky recorded some verses for an upcoming project dubbed Michelle Records.
“#The Homie @asaprocky pulled right up on me late last night dolo on some RNS and kicked it for hrs,” Westside wrote in the caption of his post. “He layed his vocals for MICHELLE RECORDS he brought a case of @mercerandprince and got his BOCHELLA merch early… This is What Culture Looks Like #FLYGOD #LordFlacko #GXFR #ASAP #ART #FASHION #Culture #ICON #RIPVIRGIL.”
It’s unclear whether Michelle Records — named after Westside Gunn’s late aunt, who passed away in November — is a song, album or new record label, but the Buffalo, New York native has been teasing it for months.
AD LOADING...
In February, WSG released two separate trailers for Michelle Records, featuring cameos from Fabolous, Dave East, Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher and Armani Caesar.
Things got even more exciting when Westside Gunn took to social media last month with a clip of longtime collaborator and producer Conductor Williams cooking up a beat from scratch.
If Michelle Records happens to be an album, it’ll be the follow-up to Westside’s two Hitler Wears Hermes 8 projects that dropped in 2021. Side A (dubbed Sincerely Adolf) boasted appearances from Lil Wayne, Jadakiss and Mach-Hommy, while Side B arrived a month later complete with guest spots from 2 Chainz, Jay Electronica and Tyler, The Creator.
There’s speculation that Michelle Records could be Westside Gunn’s new label venture given the recent revelation that Conway The Machine is no longer signed to Griselda.
