This past weekend in Phoenix AZ, Sha Money XL and his Money Management Group kicked off the 2nd annual One Stop Shop Producer’s Conference. Hundreds of producers from all over the globe flocked in for this unique event that focuses on the individuals that make the music, rather than the emcee.

With informative panels that touched on publishing, A&R duties, management, technology and more, attendees learned a great deal in the two days they spent at the Hyatt Regency.

“The idea for this conference come from the fact that I couldn’t manage everyone. There are many hungry producers seeking opportunity and looking for guidance. It’s a mentorship program,”Sha Money explained to HipHopDX. “The industry is dead on mentors as the labels get their money and are not giving back. So who’s going to be the ones responsible?”

Who better to be mentors for a convention of this magnitude than producer’s that have actually “made it” in their own right? DJ Premier, Swizz Beatz, No ID, Jake One, Mr. Porter, Don Cannon, DJ Toomp and 9th Wonder shared their musical careers with the many in attendance.

“We didn’t have anything like this years ago,”Jake One said of the event. “To me it’s just incredible to be in a room with all of these people and have them tell you how they really feel. They aren’t holding back. It’s one of those things where they give you the tools but you still have to go and do the work.”

The producers in attendance did go out and work as a beat battle judged by the producers on the panel took place. Over the course of two evenings, producers went at it with the best beats they had to offer. In the end, New York’s Canei, Austrailia’s M-Phazes, Texas’ S-1 (from Strange Fruit Project) and Las Vegas’ Dual Output were finalists with M-Phazes wowing the judges to take home the victory as well as placement on a major artist’s upcoming project.

All in all, One Stop Shop proved to be an excellent event that many look forward to being a part of next year.
