Megan Thee Stallion continues to make history. Sports Illustrated made the choice official on Monday (July 19) of their decision to have the Houston Hottie grace the cover of the famed Swimsuit edition.
With the cover, Meg becomes the first rapper to accomplish the feat and second musician behind Beyoncé, who did it in 2007.
“REAL SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT EDITION COVER MODEL SHIT,” she wrote to Instagram. “Thee first female rapper on the cover of @si_swimsuit I want to thank all the strong women in my life who inspired me to love my body and live my best hot girl life. It means the world to me to be on this cover DREAM COME TRUE!!”
The praise poured in on Megan Thee Stallion’s comments as superstar friends such as SZA called the accomplishment “hella deserved.” Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka earned one of the other SISwimsuit covers for 2021.
“It definitely was a dream for me to be on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit,” Meg added in another statement to CNN. “And to be the first female rapper? Who else would they pick? I am just happy they chose the Hot Girl Coach!”
Megan’s cover finds the “WAP” rapper laced in a zippered nude bikini from her Fashion Nova swimwear collection, which runs customers a fair $39.99. Look for the historic August issue to officially hit stands on July 22.
