Fans of Playboi Carti have been crying out for the release of Whole Lotta Red for years, but it looks like the new album could finally be arriving in just two weeks if Akademiks’ sources are correct.
The media personality took to social media on Thursday night (December 10) to announce that Carti’s project will finally be released on Christmas Day (December 25), after claiming to “sell his soul” for the exclusive information. Not only that, but he also says Kanye West is involved as an executive producer.
“I literally sold my soul to get this info for Carti fans but I’m hearing Carti album isn’t dropping tonight but will drop on Christmas,” he wrote. “And hearing Kanye the exec producer of it along with Matthew Williams from Givenchy. That’s the gift he got for y’all .. this exclusive info.”
He confirmed the day and title in the caption, “WLR on Christmas Day I’m hearing.. not tonight. YALL READY???”

Many fans thought the album might be released on Friday (December 11) after Carti revealed it was about to drop in Instagram post. In the caption, he also thanked Kanye for a tank he gifted him, while posting a photo of the $120,000 SHERP ATV that the G.O.O.D. Music boss also gave to Chris Brown and 2 Chainz.
“i kAnT bELieVE mY ALBUm iS AbOUT 2 dRoP,” he said. “wTF . ps . i goT A tANK @ THe cAsTLE n0w thx. YE.”
Carti announced his new album was turned in on November 23, just days after describing his new music as “alternative” and “psyched out” and confirming new music would be released in 2020. At the time, he wasn’t clear if the whole project would be out before the end of the year.
While Kanye’s role as an executive producer would be a surprise, Carti previously unveiled a snippet of a collaboration between them, which is produced by Wheezy.
