Beyoncé has unexpectedly announced a new television project. After releasing her Netflix documentary Homecoming in April, Queen Bey will premiere a special titled Making The Gift on ABC on Monday night (September 16).

The special will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Lion King: The Gift, the Beyoncé-curated compilation that dropped in July. The album featured contributions by notable artists such as JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Tierra Whack and Pharrell.

The Lion King: The Gift was inspired by Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King, which starred Beyoncé.

“Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation,” she said in a press release. “It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”
