A Philadelphia man is suing a whole bunch of folks after a musical expert decided that a beat he had created was similar enough to Xzibit’s song X to justify legal action.

Michael Lowe says that he played the beat for Roots’ keyboardist Scott Storch at Storch’s prompting, and heard nothing more of it. A few months later, Lowe heard the beat on Xzibit’s album Restless and swiftly decided that he would do something about it. He filed the lawsuit in April.

All those being sued, including Storch, Dre, Xzibit, Loud Records and Columbia Records, have denied the allegations. Storch asked that the case be thrown out of court due to lack of evidence, but was denied that motion last week. Lowe is seeking $1 million.
