Los Angeles, CA

The 2019 BET Awards are underway at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by actress Regina Hall, the annual event started promptly at 5 p.m. PST and is airing on BET, BET HER, MTV, MTV 2, MTV Classic, VH1 and Logo.

Cardi B — who holds the most nominations and kicked off the show — is nominated is seven categories, including Video Of The Year, Best Female Hip Hop artist and Album Of The Year, while JAY-Z and Beyoncé are nominated in three categories thanks to their EVERYTHING IS LOVE joint album.

Drake is also nominated in three categories: Video Of The Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Viewer’s Choice Award.

Several explosive performances are expected throughout the evening from artists such as Lizzo, Cardi, DJ Khaled, Migos and Meek Mill.

A special tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle is also on the docket. He will be honored with a posthumous Humanitarian Award along with Mary J. Blige who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
