The Toronto Raptors took their partnership with Drake a step further on Thursday (March 14) and honored the megastar’s contributions by renaming their training facility the OVO Athletic Centre.
“Drake is such an incredible person,” the Raptors said in a video, which also showed the team blessing the Scorpion creator with a key to the renamed facility.
Drake became a team ambassador in 2013 and expanded the partnership last year to include his OVO brand with new OVO Raptors jerseys. Drizzy is known for giving love to his hometown, has been spotted at Raptors games and even has his own locker in their Scotiabank Arena locker room.
He shared the good news on Instagram, writing, “Introducing the OVO Athletic Centre, the official training facility for the Toronto Raptors. just wanted to add that I am so proud of my brothers and so proud to be from this city I swear this one feels like a high school dream and it’s a blessing to be able to raise up the levels and make the human mind stretch when it comes to thinking about what is possible in your lifetime!! Much love to everyone involved.”

Last year, Raptors President Masai Ujiri called Drake the “King of Toronto” when they announced their OVO partnership.
“Over the past four years, the Raptors’ relationship with Drake has always ultimately been about celebrating this city and the people that make it unique. We have something very special happening in Toronto and Drake is a big part of that,” Ujiri stated.
Drake is currently on his Assassination Vacation tour in Europe, but he’ll be able to pay a visit to Scotiabank Arena for the Raptors postseason. (They currently hold the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.)
