HipHopDX Premiere

Blockhead hasn’t released an official video since 2009’s “The Music Scene.” Ten years and nine albums later, the seasoned Hip Hop producer is back with an innovative claymation visual for “Slippery Slope,” one of 14 new tracks from his Free Sweatpants album.

Featuring claymation versions of Open Mike Eagle, Breezly Brewin and billy woods, the “Slippery Slope” video boasts the artistic vision of director Mr. Oz.

“I’d like to say I had all sorts of input with the concept and process but it was all Mr Oz,” Blockhead tells HipHopDX. “Aside from giving him pictures of the rappers and me, he just took an idea and ran with it. That’s great for me ’cause I’m not typically an ‘idea man.'”

“I was very happy with the final product,” he adds. “My last video was ‘The Music Scene,’ so that set a high standard. With this, I wanted to go a completely different direction.”

Toward the end of the visual, Blockhead suffers a curious fate — but he ultimately wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Dying by laser gunpoint at the hands of two shapely aliens is actually my ideal death,” he admits. “So that worked perfectly for me.”
