Chance The Rapper has never been shy about broadcasting his relationship with God, whether it be through his music or social media. Now, he has initiated a trek across the globe to study the Holy Bible as a way to get closer to the Most High.
The Grammy Award-winning musician announced a religious sabbatical on Friday (December 7) in an Instagram post of him holding his newborn nephew, Charlie Matthew.
“I’m on a plane headed out the country on my first sabbatical,” Chance wrote on Instagram. “I’m going away to learn the Word of God which I am admittedly very unfamiliar with. I’ve been brought up by my family to know Christ but I haven’t taken it upon myself to really just take a couple [of] days and read my bible.”
According to the Instagram post, the 25-year-old rap star says he has about four or five books to read and plans to do it all cigarette-free.

In another post, he invites his more than 9 million Instagram followers to read a passage from Galatians with him.
While the Chicagoist‘s new owner is away reading scripture, he has given fans some new songs to enjoy until he makes his return. Among them include “My Own Thing” featuring Joey Purp and “The Man Who Has Everything,” which he calls his “best song.”
Chance is also scheduled to perform in his hometown of Chicago on December 20 for the SocialWorks event A Night at the Museum. The show gives supporters an opportunity to catch him live during the holiday season.
