Mike WiLL Made-It was named executive producer for the Creed II soundtrack in October and the first single off the project blessed by his production skills is “The Mantra” with Pharrell Williams and Kendrick Lamar has been released.

On “The Mantra,” Pharrell offers a contagious sing-songy verse, then hook, surrounded by soft synths and Mike’s customary drum taps before Dot spits his own verse about embracing life’s challenges. It falls right in line with the tone of the Rocky-based film, starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone which is slated to hit theaters November 21 along with it’s heavily-anticipated original soundtrack.

J. Cole, Crime Mob, Nas, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Quavo, Rae Sremmurd, Pharrell, Gucci Mane, Ella Mai and Young Thug are all expected to appear on the project.

“I approached the music by first watching Creed II and then creating a playlist of songs people could work out to, chill to, vibe to or to get them through any struggle which matched specific scenes in the movie,” Mike WiLL told Variety on curating the soundtrack. “It’s important to show the new generation that soundtracks can be just as exciting as traditional albums if put in the hands of the right curator. After people hear the music, I want them to say movie soundtracks are back.”
