COLUMBIA, SC – JAY-Z and Beyonce’s humanitarian and cultural efforts have earned the couple the key to the city of Columbia, South Carolina.

The powerhouse pair was given the honor on Tuesday (August 21), the day their On The Run II tour stopped in Columbia.

The city’s mayor, Steve Benjamin was able to present JAY-Z with the key to the city while backstage at Columbia’s Williams-Brice Stadium. Benjamin shared a photo of himself handing the key to a smiling JAY-Z and added the following caption:

“Late night but what an incredible show at #OTRII in @ColumbiaSC ! It was wonderful to have a chance to recognize the humanitarian & cultural contributions of Mr. & Mrs. Carter. August 21st was officially “Beyoncé Knowles Carter & Shawn Carter Day” in @ColumbiaSC.”

In addition to earning the key to the city, August 21 is now Beyonce Knowles Carter and Shawn Carter Day in Columbia.

Next up for the couple on their On The Run II Tour is Nashville (August 23) and Atlanta (August 25 and 26).
