This week proved to be an interesting one on the charts.
While it was almost easily assumed that Eminem Presents The Re-Up would take
the #1 spot, Ciara proved that nothing is for certain as Evolution beat out the
Shady/Aftermath release for the top spot. Evolution sold just under 340k to
edge out Eminem Presents The Re-Up, which clocked in at #2 with 308k sold. Lil
Scrappy’s Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live couldn’t
get enough G-Unit magic to make a difference on the top 10 as it lands quietly at
#24 with 82k sold it its first week.
Elsewhere, Akon’s Konvicted proves to be the sleeper album
of the winter by taking the #12 spot in its fourth week on the chart with
another strong showing of 118k sold (676,702 sold overall). It pushed past
Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come (#15 with 101k sold in week 3) although Jay is closing in
on platinum with 923k sold overall. Game’s
Doctor’s Advocate just can’t seem to catch up while landing at #42 this week
with 49k sold (604k sold overall). Snoop and his Blue Carpet Treatment is
holding steady at #28 this week with 69k sold as it closes in on gold status
(424k sold to date)
While Ciara is holding it down for the women, Beyonce and
Fergie prove that they are no slouches either as they punch in at #13 and #19
respectively. Beyonce’s B’Day pushed another 108k sold putting it at 1.6
million sold overall while Fergie’s Dutchess moved 92k units putting it at just
under 805k sold in 12 weeks on the chart.
Next week it’s all about Young Jeezy, Ghostface and Black
Ty.
