This week’s Hip Hop album sales find Lloyd Banks‘ Rotten Apple starting off strong but just not strong enough to top the charts. Rotten Apple pushed a solid 140k but was couldn’t beat out Rod Stewart‘s Greatest Hits (184k) and Evanescence‘s second week (164k) sales. Is it possible that the G-Unit is slowly peppering out? Sammie‘s sophomore album was the only other new album in the Hip Hop/R&B arena and entered the charts at #42 with 20k sold.
Elsewhere, Ludacris‘ Release Therapy keeps going strong. The album is just under gold in it’s 3rd week on the charts with 75k sold this week (#10) putting the sales to date at 496,808. Needless to say that the album will crack gold by next week. Gnarls Barkley‘s St. Elsewhere finally has cracked the million sales mark while holding strong at #55 after 23 weeks on the charts.
Lupe Fiasco‘s Food & Liquor just barely moved passed the 150k mark this week (#49) while staying close in sales to Chingy‘s Hoodstar and its 157k sold (#41). And Rick Ross‘s Port of Miami is still pushing it to the limit with another 23k sold and 545k sold overall after 10 weeks on the charts.
Next week we’ll see how well Diddy‘s Press Play does as well as Hi-Tek‘s Hi-Teknology 2.
