Erykah Badu was one of the highlights on D.R.A.M.‘s debut album, Big Baby D.R.A.M. In a recent interview with RapRadar, the iconic singer reveals that their song, “Wi-Fi” is actually part of an EP that they are working on together. She doesn’t remember who reached out to who initially, but says they are “mutual fans.”
“I was intimidated,” Badu says of working with the Virginia rapper. “He has something very special. The way he writes. The way he performs. The way he fills a room with his presence. He knows who he is and you get the sense that he knows and appreciates who he is and he doesn’t allow infiltration.”
She continues describing D.R.A.M. as an “enigma” and tries to explain his artistry by comparing him to some of the greats.
“If George Clinton, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and D’Angelo had a baby, that’s D.R.A.M.” she says. “He has a really particular way of delivering a song. His voice and his style, it’s old and it’s new. I’m impressed.”
