Carl Roe celebrated Veteran’s Day by releasing his Eleven Chuck album. The U.S. Army veteran pays tribute to his time in the military with the title reflecting his role as an infantryman — 11c — also known as 11 Chuck.
“The album isn’t so much about my time spent in the military, but it is personal in several aspects, and so I wanted to make the title personal as well,” the Seattle rapper says to HipHopDX. “This album also serves as a time capsule in many respects.”
He shares some of the stories behind his most heartfelt moments that he lyrically weaves onto the 17-track project. The album tells the story of his life from growing up with big dreams until now and the people he’s come into contact with.
“I go back in time when I speak about my friends and how I met them. On ‘My Friends,’ I wanted to remember how I came to know two of my buddies,” he says. “Sometimes when we meet people and become great friends, it’s easy to forget just how we met them. Human beings attach themselves more to how people make them feel rather than how things came to be. Other examples of how this project’s a time capsule can be found on ‘Country Music’ and ‘Roe’s House,’ where I talk about my childhood… I’m just a kid with moxie who grew up loving Hip Hop and lived it.”

Eleven Chuck enlists production from Rahjconkas, Willie Staxx, GrandRiggity and Roe himself, but Roe’s most exciting moment was getting Nottz on “S. State St.” Roe explains how the Soul Council producer wants to work more with him, which is a dream come true.
“It means a lot that someone like Nottz (whom I’ve been a fan of since high school) would take an interest in what I do,” Roe says. “I have done some engineering work for him and that’s what prompted the collab. So far, I’ve mixed two projects for him in their entirety: Titans In The Flesh from Blu & Nottz, as well as The Achievement: circa ’82 by Mickey Factz & Nottz. I believe that the co-sign from Nottz garners me more listeners and people willing to press play because of the name association on my album single, ‘S. State St.’ I personally feel that it’s a bit petty, but that’s one of the perks of working with one of the best to do it. Nottz believes in what I do, and he knows he can contact me with certain jobs that make sense.”
