In what has become a regular occurence in New York, in response to the latest shooting at Hot 97‘s radio station, the landlords have given up on their negotions with the station.
“We’ve directed our attorneys to begin the eviction process,” New York City District Council of Carpenters rep Stuart GraBois told the press. “We’re concerned about the safety of the public and our other tenants.” The group is set to meet with their lawyers on Monday and expects to make a formal announcement regarding the eviction Tuesday.
In the latest shooting on Wednesday, April 26, rapper Jamal “Gravy” Woolard was grazed by a bullet as he was entering Hot 97‘s studio for an interview, reports the New York Daily News. Woolard completed the interview and then sought medical treatment once police officers showed up to investigate.
Gravy has been largely uncooperative with authorities in revealing whether the shooter was in his entourage of almost 30 people.

The studio at 395 Hudson Street has been the focal point for many altercations over the past five years. In 2001, the beef between the Lil Kim and Capone-N-Noreaga camps spilled into the streets with shots fired and Lil Kim paid the ultimate price with time in prison for her silence.
Also, Hot 97 was the focal point of the investigation into the who-shot-who scenario between entourages connected to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Jayceon “The Game” Taylor. Promtping the landlords to ask the station to add extra security and insist that artists are allowed only one other person to accompany them inside for station interviews, which also require at least four days prior notice to the NYC police.
The station has been largely uncooperative in reaching any new agreements and abiding by the new rules set forth by the landlords. The station still stands by their actions. “There is no legal basis for eviction whatsoever,” a Hot 97 spokesman said yesterday, adding that the station “has been working with cops and security to keep its employees and other tenants safe”.
In lighter news the station announced it’s line-up for their 13th Annual Summer Jam concert.
