The Game requested that his June 16 hearing in Chicago be pushed back.

According to TMZ, Compton rapper The Game is playing it safe in regards to a hearing that was scheduled to take place in Chicago next week.

The musician was to attend the hearing due to a sexual assault lawsuit filed in Illinois, but asked a judge in the matter to postpone his hearing, citing the recent violence in Chicago. His request was granted without opposition from Priscilla Rainey, the woman who filed the lawsuit.

The past two weeks in Chicago have been plagued by shootings. On Memorial Day weekend, there were 64 shootings in the city, with a handful of those shootings proving to be fatal.

In his request, The Game expressed his concern over the possibility of retaliation due to past shootings.

The West Coast wordsmith is reportedly being sued for $10 million by Rainey, who claims that he sexually assaulted her when they went out on a date after shooting for his VH1 reality dating show, She Got Game.

A new court date for The Game has yet to be set.
