ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith recently addressed the death of Sandra Bland, a Texas woman who was reportedly found dead in her jail cell after being placed into police custody for allegedly assaulting an officer during a traffic stop, according to VladTV.

Taking to Twitter yesterday (July 21), Smith questioned why the #BlackLivesMatter movement was not speaking out when Black-on-Black crimes were taking place.

“Where is all the noise about #BlackLivesMatter when black folks are killing black folks?,” Smith tweeted.

The television personality also defended Democratic presidential candidate and former Gov. Martin O’Malley for saying “all lives matter,” for which he was booed off stage for this past Saturday at the Netroots Nation Conference.

“There’s nothing wrong when a presidential candidate says ‘All lives Matter!,” Smith wrote on Twitter.

In response, Talib Kweli tweeted, “Unless all lives are not treated like they matter,” adding: “so I guess you show up at funerals and yell out ‘what’s the big deal? Everyone dies!’”

Taking to Twitter, Killer Mike also weighed in on Smith’s comments, saying, “If ‘all lives mattered’ classism, racism, sexism, homophobia and other isms that we allow to exist wud not.”
